Best Meditations to Induce Lucid Dreams?

Hey all! I have taken a temporally leave from the site to find out when my REM times are. Now that I have found them out I'm going to try again to WILD using BillyBob's principles. Anyway, I have read that meditating corresponds with lucid dreaming. After reading this I did a Google search on meditation and there were literally hundreds of things/ideas.

I was wondering what are some of your meditation techniques that you use to help have lucid dreams.
      Thanks.

There are various deeper meditations, though for a beginner i'd suggest to just start off with the basic way I learnt. Find a comfortable spot, with no noise or irritations, close your eyes and relax, focus on your breathing and nothing else. It might take a while, or a few tries to really grasp it, as focusing on one single spot for a prolonged time is more difficult than it sounds, yet so simple. Just take out 20-30 minutes to sit, relax, focus on your breath, and be totally aware of yourself, and your surroundings. You will be AMAZED at how peaceful and content you feel after 15 minutes or so

i always get real comfy. go to the bathroom first , get all the distractions out the way. and then i will start to slow my breathing down and with that the heart rate slows down . the hard part for me is to not get so comfy that i just fall asleep i try to count backwards from 100 i can get it to work 3 out of 10 times. hope this helps

I like to do it like this:
Sit down in a comfortable way. Close your eyes, relax completely. I then listen to the high tune I can always hear in my ears (everyone has it, although it may not be high-pitched like mine. Lie or sit down in a silent place and listen for it, you will most likely hear your tune within a few minutes). While doing that, I also focus on my breathe as mentioned. Then I just sit still and continue to do that. A lot of meditation tutorials tell you to shut down your thought progress entirely, but I think that it is better to just let your mind wander and don't pay too much attention to it (much like WILD). After a short period of time I will feel a bit high. When I open my eyes I have a short period of hyperawareness, which is usefull for LD.

I should add that if you have trouble falling asleep, you should do this while lying down. You will most likely fall asleep within minutes.

      Good luck!

      Thanks for your detailed reply.
I will be sure to try this later today when I can get in a silent place.

I have never heard of using meditation to induce lucid dreams. Also as a side note, during meditation you should never try to control your thoughts. This gives them power. You simply let them pass, without judgement or focus. You remain focused on whatever it is you are meditating on, be it a mantra, your breathing, etc.

You could try this experiment. Find a dreamy scene from an artist you like. Print it out, on photo paper if you can afford it. Make sure it's about the size of a piece of paper, although if you have the wall space you could try this with something movie poster sized. It must be very detailed, it has to be a scene that draws you in, that does not have artifacts in it which distract you. Now go about your meditation while gazing into, not at the scene. You don't need to see the scene with your physical eyes for it to have the desired effect. so your gaze should be soft, relaxed, unfocused. With this you should be able to enter the scene as a dream, and you should be lucid. Robert Moss details this in one of his books, think it's, "Active Dreaming." I think it was Moss. The author details the process of focusing on scenes in Tarot cards in order to enter that place.

Another option here is to get and read Maxwell Maltz's, "Psycho-Cybernetics", learn how to make mental movies, and write a script for yourself that shows you becoming lucid in your dream.

      Hope these ideas help -

P.S. On an unrelated note my grandad was in the Marine Corps. I saw a letter of his dated a year before or after Pearl Harbor (can't recall which), so it was likely he was there, but he never talked about it. While I don;t agree with any of the wars we are in now, I want to thank you for your efforts and let you know that you, and all your fellow soldiers, are appreciated.

      Your resistance to something,
Is the only power it has over you.
      This too, will pass.
