      Dying in Dreams?

Ok, what happens if you 'Die' in dreams?

Is it even possiable? My friend told me it was, but if you did somehow, you'd go crazy...

Or if you die in a dream, do you die in real life?

      Or does nothing happen?

Just wondering, because ya know, I wanted to be prepared in case something....odd happens in a LD....

Oh, no, dying in a dream is quite safe. In fact, at a certain point in your dream developemt you are supposed to die, so that you can prove to yourself that you don't stay dead ... not more than about 20 seconds. If you can keep from waking up when you get killed in a dream, you will find that your 'dead' body begin to get restless, just laying there, and you will get up to see what is going on.

It happened to me, and then for the next week I was killed again and again and again, to underline the point that I would not stay dead in a dream.

The kind of Dream that brings this expectation of Death is that kind of Nightmarish Dream where one is running from a Monster or some Murderer and feels as though you cannot get away. It becomes a recurrent dream, because few people realize at first that you are supposed to turn around and let the Thing kill you.

Now, I will be honest and say that one person has written in to say that this Recurrent Dream had not gone away no matter how many times he let the monster slay him. I don't know what was going on with that. But ordinarily once you realize you cannot die in a Dream, it makes one FEARLESS.

Being FEARLESS in Dreams opens up a whole new Level of possibilities.

lol, its like dying in the matrix.
Neo: "Do I die if I die in the matrix?"
Morpheus: "The body cannot live without the mind"
good thing dying in a dream is not seriously consequential
      Bowser has dreams too, y'know
Most of them are nightmares cuz he dreams about Mario kicking his ass!

      :shakehead:

if you die in a dream your physical body doesn't die. as to the purpose of dying in dreams... well nobody knows. there are theories... i've heard that if you die in a dream, you're missing something vital to your wellbeing in the physical world. i've also heard that if you die in a dream, it's just a random neuron firing in your head... i've also heard that the act of being chased by something that represents death is evolutions way of keeping you on your toes. so my point is this: there are many theories.

Dying in your dreams? you mean like dying in real life? like someone murders you while you are dreaming? or just simply dying in your dreams? because I've died a billion times here's a small lists of my dream deaths:

      bitten by a snake
      shot
      choked
      sucked into a well
      just falling...

that's just a very small list of how I've died in some of my dreams... pretty sure I've died in many more ways, just can't remember them... but I'm pretty sure I've died a lot more times...

Dying in dreams is pretty safe, as long as you can deal with it - ie. don't have a phobia about it.

The worst that can happen physically is that your heart rate and blood pressure would climb (as it would in a tense moment), which may cause a problem if you have very serious heart problems (which rules out the vast majority of us)

I personally have died in my dreams a number of times.

lol I took your advice, leovolont
last night in my dream I saw an prophet-like old woman, and I felt the dream was becoming a nightmare. To avoid the nightmare, I started to pack and run, but then I became lucid all of a sudden. I screamed at her, "Kill me! Kill me now!" She was like, "you must wait for the mail man..." but then if I was to die, I"d rather die now than while running, so I ordered her to choke me to death. THen I felt like I wasn't breathing in real life either, so I woke up

In a way, when you wake up from being killed in a dream, you really are dying. To really get the point of Death in a Dream, you must stay in the dream for another 20 seconds or so, in order to realize that you DID NOT REALLY DIE.

It is like those "Highlander" movies in which a normally lethal blow would only be enough to cause a momentary shutdown, but within 20 seconds or so, life comes back (accept in the "Highlander" movies you had to be careful not to have one's head cut off which apparently would be 'fatal').

Anyway, your waking up because you have been killed indicates either fear or the sense that your life really had been terminated. You need to get beyond that fear and beyond the sense that any momentary assault could possibly have any lasting effect.

Here is a case where General Advice does not pass the Test of Particulars. Perhaps there is a difference between being executed, and practically committing Suicide.

But, yes, this is still a very important dream.

The Old Lady Oracle (men are 'prophets', ladies are 'oracles') is perhaps not so very evil. But your present domain is not a very high one. I would guess that this Lady Oracle was sent to offer you some form of Rescue -- some guidance out of your Nightmares.

I'm sure She was very impressed by your bravery in your willingness to Die. I'm sure every Angel, Spirit and Demon in the Three Realms must have turned around to see what was going on. I have not the slightest doubt now but that your Name is now an object of intense heavenly discussion... or maybe just gossip. However, it is such things that separate you from the Billions of other Souls. It shall have gotten you recognition which will lead to Patranage.... more on that later.

But this Oracle told you "You must wait for the Mail Man". You might have listened. She was telling you that your Initiation into Fearlessness is already on its way... that particular Dream is "In the Mail" as they say, and it only has to be delivered.

Now let's examine the Choking. This is correlated with your interpretting the Oracle as an Agent of Evil. It is your sense that she has come to 'choke' you, or to stiffle you. You fear that She is only come to interfer with your Freedom. So far you have not guessed that She has come to help.

Now, about Spiritual Patronage. In my Important Dreams there has been a recurrent destination for many of my travels -- the Cave of Prayer at Mount Carmel, still watched over by the Prophet Elijah. Once when I was there, he warned me as he pointed up to the sky even through the ceiling of the Cave up through the Mountain which suddenly became perfectly translucent, "Behold, the Principalities of the Spiritual Realms vie for your Soul", and I saw quite a few dragons circling in aerial combat up above.

My point? Now that you have made a Name for Yourself in the Spiritual Realms by your inordinate bravery and willingness to take risks for your Spiritual Benefit and Knowledge, you will be offered Patronage from many quarters -- some good and some bad. You will have to choose.

And choosing is not always easy... not in these days. Over a hundred and fifty years ago an Apparition of Our Lady the Blessed Virgin appeared at La Salette France and prophecies that at the approaching End of Time (End of the Present Age) people would forget how to tell the difference between Good and Evil. This Prophecy has largely come to be fulfilled. Our Society now supposes that Greed, Freedom, Winning, Pleasure are all good things, and that all of the Liberal and Religious Virtues are devices of Socially Imposed Oppression. It is as though the Fallen Angels of Lucifer are finally winning in their assualt against Heaven; and Personal Glorification and Self Pride is now winning over the Sense of Community, Love and Collective Sharing which represent the Old Godly Virtues.

I would recommend that you go with the Collective Community and the Team of Heaven -- that you see Perfection in terms of Realizing that there is a Oneness in All Life -- that the Highest Realization is in experiencing the Oneness and Unity of All Things. Self Glorification is surrendered in the pursuit of experiencing the Glorification of the Entire Universe.

Keep that in mind for when the recruiters, from both sides, drop by to interview you.

      i died before

I can assure you that dying in dreams is much safer than dying in real life! i actually have experienced several dreams where i have "died" in my dream. in one case i felt what i think i feels like to die. lol i cant explain how that feels, and i am sort of obsessed with what happens when you die, and where do you go, so i already have an idea of what it may be like, and i think my dream took that into account(except for the middle of it). so anyway after i felt this feeling i blacked out, and it look like i was going through this tunnel with this light gettting brighter and brighter, and then i end up in room that looks like im on some scifi show in a spaceship. and then i see my dad ,and he says something and i forget what it was, and i was getting ready to go on a mission to kill people. as soon as i stepped through one of the portals i ended up at this huge train station, and it was obvious to me that this wasnt my mission anymore, and then i appeared at home in my kitchen, and all these kids and party people where rollerblading down my hallway, and i was thinking "OKAY!" and then i thought i must be in the most messed up afterlife ever. and then i woke up. and i wasnt lucid during any of this, so i was pretty confused. there are other times where i have drowned and other weird ways of dying, and my dreams always continue. even when im falling off of buildings or being stabbed with samuri swords or knives i still remain in my dream.

LOL...anyway dying in a dream is nothing big. It'll probably hurt, but nothing more. you'll either wake up, lose conciousness in the dream, or just go into another dream

btw..its good to see you again Neo Neo. welcome back

      Dying in dreams?

thanks, its good to be back. anyway, you could also experiment with dying in dreams, it would be interesting to see how many different afterlifes your unconscious would think up of.

I never really understood that concept. I mean how can your mind Mimic dying if you never died before? I mean I know all of your internal organs does not shut down and you don't stop breathing so would it really be the same concept as dying?

The only time I remember dying in a dream was when my friend's cat (I hate cats) came over to me, I tried to push it away and said I wasn't going to pet it, and then it opened its mouth. It had giant snake-like teeth, with those web-like things on the sides of its mouth. It sunk its teeth into the inside of my arm, and I just looked at it with a look in my face that said, "How could you do this to me? You don't know what this feels like". It walked away, and I swelled up and felt extremely hot, not able to get up from sitting against the wall of the room. Then, my throat just fell open, like a drawbridge, popping out, and spilling some white poisonous liquid all over me. I tried to wake my friend up, but my voice didn't work. I wasn't scared, just angry at the cat, because it was walking away with both innocence and hate in its eyes. I was sure it wouldn't be blamed for my death. I just sat there, pretty much dead, and I wasn't sad or anything. I didn't think of all the things I hadn't done in life, I didn't think of anyone finding me in this position, and I didn't regret anything. It felt exactly how I usually think dying would feel, just like some huge, epic thing that was amazing for some reason, it felt like like I was selected to move onto the next stage.

I doubt I was dead for more than 20 seconds before waking up, and I didn't get up in the dream, I really felt paralyzed and completely drained of energy.

This is sortof related, but I have mentioned my violent dreams before now, and in many of them I am litterally fighting for my life, to survive. Maybe I should give in, and let them kill me? Would this end my fear of whatever is trying to kill me?

Well, Dickie, Leo Volont said, and you can beat me with a stick later if I'm wrong, Volont, that you should let whatever nightmarish form that brings about your fear kill you, so in essence you may face the reality that you cannot die in a dream, thus erasing said fear. Uh, short version answer: Yes'sum. With the exception of his one example, the odds seem to be in your favor. ^_^

But on to my personal post! It is so gratifying to discover others have died in their dreams! My apologies beforehand for my long-windedness. ^_^"

The evening before I found this forum, I had a dream in which I died. And it wasn't a move over, pass the popcorn while I get a front row seat to the entertainment, but rather a first person, in my face undertaking.

I went to my old campus to surprise a friend for lunch and witnessed a murder as soon as I stepped into the building.

I could have, and probably should have, gone through the double doors on my right which would have brought me to the masses and their designated offices, but fearing for their safety, I pulled a 180 and exited the way I entered. The murderess had seen me, so instead of crossing the expansive lawn and becoming an easy target, I tried remaining low-key and going around and behind buildings until I came upon a building I recognized, entering for the sole purpose to call the police.

But the killer was there and as soon as I stepped through the entrance, she shot me in the forehead. My view of the building's interior became tilted and then all was black.

I woke up choking. Not very pleasant first thing in the morning. I wasn't afraid by any means, just... shocked and intrigued at the same time. Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me interpret this now that I know one can't physically die when death consumes us in our dreams. I've had a few days to consider it, and now I wonder if it has something to do with self-sacrifice. Perhaps I need to concentrate on myself rather than others for awhile? I'm not sure. Any input would be most welcome.

      Amber
