Hey everyone I've just joined Dream-Views and am planning on begining regular practice tonight.
While I'm waiting for that breakthrough moment, I thought I'll share both the most annoying and enthralling WILD attempt I've to date:
I had landed my first succesful lucid dream two weeks ago but due to having to move houses just afterwards, I did'nt really get a chance to attempt another till we moved fully over. At the time, I had to share a room with my bro which didn't make things easier for me. I had inexplicitly woken up in the middle of the night and decided to take advantage and attempt a WILD. Next thing I know, I wake up sometime early in the morning which during the winter might as well be night. However something didn't quite feel right in the air. I had a strong suspicion that I was in a dream and decided to do a reality check. I pinched my nose and found I couldn't breathe. I still felt strange though and tried again. Same result. Then I tried to materialize a pineapple in my hands (don't ask lol). It failed. I still felt weird and contemplated running into my parents room waking them to see if they would react weirdly but at that point, I felt that I was being a bit daft. I decided that this must be real and went about the rest of my day normally. You can see where this is heading don't you? When I woke up in the morning, explictives strove to rush out my mouth.
So you ask, why did I find this enthralling? Because while I was questioning my reality in the false awakening, everything looked so vivid and real yet I immediatly felt a strange sense of suspicion. My own awareness was more reliable then any reality check. Many people (including me at the time) think that a reality check leads to you questioning reality but it ran the opposite way here. Thats why I consider ADA the ultimate tech for inducing LD's.
Have you had any near misses to lucidity and if so, what did you learn from them, if anything?
