How do you wake up after dream cycles?

Just curious here, I'm trying to learn to wake up in the night without the use of an alarm. Weather it be by auto suggestion, drinking lots of water, etc. What other techniques do you use other than an alarm? (Reason being my girlfriend hates being woken up in the middle of the night in regards to my "dream nonsense")

'Dream nonsense' wtf.. I feel your pain -_-

Secondly whats the problem with them techniques?
(Is it getting out of bed to go toilet? Well she can't stop you to doing that lol! )

If you wanna wake up without any external cues - drink shit loads of water before bed + auto suggestion e.g. ' i will wake up after each dream'

When my alarm goes off it wakes her as well and she has a hard time going back to bed and therefore pesters me and lectures me not to wake her with my nonsense. Which in turn completely wakes me up and ruins more than likely my WILD attempt.

I have a hard time waking up on my own other than by alarm, I rarely go to the bathroom in the middle of the night (even after drinking loads of water). Auto suggestion has only provided me mixed and unreliable results. Im looking for an unorthodox technique that someone uses that I have yet to try lol.

Oh ok, maybe an alarm that vibrates? Not sure if she will hear that though..

      Well drink more water!

Actually, a good one is to right down in your journal to wake up at whatever time, or after a dream. Or better yet, set an alarm on your phone, but then tweak it so the alarm doesn't actually go off (subconscious has a tendency to wake up just before it knows an alarm is going off so not to get too startled)

Or you could just shortcut it and buy her ear plugs

That is very true I forgot about that ability to sense an alarm and the internal body clock. I will combine all of these techniques and see what kind of results this gets me.

Quite frankly I have no luck with DILD so MILD and WILD are my primary LD induction techniques which I have success only after doing a WBTB lol.

You already do wake up after sleep cycles. After every sleep cycle to be exact. However, you usually fall back asleep before even realizing that you were awake. Becoming concious of the awakenings is easy: realise that you already do wake up multiple times per night, and tell yourself that you will recognize the awakening. That's all. It will have effect within a few days

That's very interesting as well. I'm aware that we awaken multiple times during the night (which is how we sometimes shift positions) but I never thought of using autosuggestion to actually recognize that I have woken up. Thank you for the tip, just what I was looking for!

Depending on how much water you drink during the day, I like to have a long 'sip' of water right before going to sleep. Not sure why exactly, but I prefer this method, heheh.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

I personally am a person that just absolutely loves drinking water. I'd often drink about 800 ml Right before bed or 500 ml at a minimum or I can't get to sleep. I normally do NOT wake up during the night because of the extra water though. What I found out works for me is that I set an alarm that really wakes you mind for a few days and after that just stop the alarm and do not turn it on. I naturaly wake thanks to this. I get anxious most of the times which renders me unable to go to sleep after I have woken up. But when I am not anxious I can decide whether to continue sleeping or get up.
