      First LD

While Dreamviews was down, I had my first lucid dream. I randomly recognized things were too weird to be real, and decided to do a RC. Instead of extra fingers, my hands looked all distorted and freaky. In the dream, I was ecstatic I finally became aware. Though I wasn't fully there it seemed. When I planned out things i'd do for my first LD, I only tried one thing- flying. I couldn't fly, so I just moved on in my dream. It was like the longest dream i had ever had in my life. I kept myself in it until I finally woke up in the morning to my alarm. I wasn't very smart though. I didn't do all I would do, and I actually tried texting a few friends in my dream, telling them I was LD'ing. What would you guys say about this?

Edit: I also just went with the flow of the dream. I knew I was dreaming the whole time, but I was really stupid and didn't realize it. I saw a giant birdhouse the size of a doghouse, with another smaller version on top of it during an adventure, and I made myself remember it, because I thought it was a significant item I could make on a video game. I actually started in a nightmare, and took control. Tried to fly, then just went with the flow. I recall at least once I started waking up, and I kept myself in it. However, I feel like I wasn't there mentally enough to be having a true LD. Is this common?

I had my first 10+ sec long LD today too and I have to say, I feel like I wasn't there mentally enough SOMETIMES too... It's like my consciousness went to the background during a few gaps in the dream duration... anyways, I also have this feeling that I went with the flow of the dream... I mean, I only tried to control MY actions... it's like i forgot that I could control my dream landscape or maybe I was just too excited... btw I tried a lot of things I wanted to do... not all of them but I tried to throw an energy blast (hadouken or something), I tried to fly, I ran supa fast to check my endless stamina, tried to get invisible and I tried to make out with random girls that showed up in the dream without saying a fucking word... Long story short: I was able to float/fly, I threw an hadouken in my second attempt but it had no effect on the environment, I failed at getting invisible and I was able to make out with random girls but some of them tried to resist o.o lol

Looking forward to a reply from someone that have a good experience but I thought mine could show you that another beginners are experiencing the same issues.

Well the reason why you didn't do exactly what you wanted to do was because when we realise we are dreaming, we are still not completely aware, I'm currently experimenting on techniques to make myself more aware when I have realised I'm dreaming.
So don't worry about it, in my first lucid I tried to fly and it was really fun, so I'm sure yours was too!

Congratulations! That sounds like an amazing dream.

Most of the time, lucid dreams are still pretty wonky, like this. Being lucid does not mean our brains are working at full capacity. There seems to be a range of lucidity. Sometimes I am very logical, can remember things from my waking life, and have great control over my environment. (These kind of dreams are actually pretty boring). Other times, the dream story continues, and I play out my role with the added bonus of knowing it is all a dream, and the ability to control some things. These are my favorite type of dreams. It is fun to be a part of things, and be able to react to all the weird stuff in the dream as it is happening.
