      Help Identifying My Strange Experience

Pretty weird experience last night; I hope some of you can help tell me what it could have been, or offer any similar experiences. Here's what I remember:

I went to bed at about 1.30, a normal time for me, and fell asleep shortly after. I instantly had a couple of relatively mundane dreams - nothing out of the ordinary that I can remember, mostly just sitting around in my house. However, at various points I would feel dizzy and confused - like being incredibly drunk. I'd also liken it to that headrush you get when you stand up too fast, which I usually enjoy, expect in my dream I was with people and it was just an inconvenience.
The final time it happens (it must have happened at least 2 or 3 times), I think I questioned whether or not I was dreaming. This is the first time I've done this in a dream, and could be somewhat of a breakthrough, if I did indeed remember it correctly. This however caused me to wake up, but the drunk feeling didn't go away until a few moments later - which I thought could possibly be sleep paralysis?

Could anyone shed some light on this? Anyone with a similar experience? I'd like to know if this was a possible transition into lucidity, particularly as the day preceding it I had been practicing All Day Awareness for the first time.

      Cheers

Frequently during transition I do get the acceleration feeling - like flying head first at incredible speeds. I call this headrush. It's a common sensation when entering lucid dream. Lately, I started having this headrush during my regular dreams, when in a dream I decide to lay down, or bow my head in order to go to sleep and wake up lucid. At these moments, I sometimes feel very sleepy, almost falling over. When I wake up from these dreams IWL, sometimes I can't tell, if these sensations were followed by a lucid dream or not.

Maybe you are going through this sensation and entering, or almost entering a lucid dream, just not remembering it. That's my best guess. Could be something entirely different, though. Happy dreams

I think you could be right, I have a feeling I was semi-aware I was dreaming JUST before I woke up, which is pretty annoying, but at least I'm making progress. I definitely felt tired, but it's hard to describe the feeling, maybe it was like 'bad reception' of my dream, and I was rapidly flickering in and out of my dream-state.

At any rate, it was pretty fun - kind of felt like being high - and it's given me hope that my first lucid dream should be soon.

Sometimes when 'exiting my body', I have a similar experience of drunkness...I'd say it's closer to being paralytic. It feels as if my legs have atrophied so much that I cannot stand, or that the force of gravity has increased by tens of factors.

      The mistake:
Trying to force myself to a standing position, as if I'm battling some unknown entity - such behaviour inevitably wakes me up. Probably adrenalin.

      Solution:
Don't move, and try to increase your awareness of the dream state. Acknowledge the surroundings. I can usually stand with ease after 30-40 seconds.

When I say 'exiting', I do mean a transition to the lucid state.

You've perfectly summed up how it felt, thanks. I'll definitely try out your suggestion should it happen again.
