Is this a type of sleep cycle?

Okay, say I've slept all night and my REM cycle is through- no more realistic dreams for the night. It's morning and dreams continue, but they aren't exactly dreams. These "dreams" are more like random thoughts that are visual. Sometimes I even realize I'm "dreaming", except the visuals aren't any more clear than regular thoughts.

Is this simply hypnopompic imagery? Is this part of a NREM cycle or simply the beginning of the awake cycle?... Just curious what this would be defined as.

Sounds like hypnagogic imagery to me
