Is my inconsistant sleep cycle getting in the way?

It's my third day trying to achieve lucidity, and I think that my deep sleep is getting in the way of my dream recall.

      1. Can an inconsistant sleep cycle affect how deep you sleep?
I have an inconsistant sleep cycle. I go to bed very late (2am), and sometimes wake up at 7am and sometimes at 1pm. Last night I slept from 2am to 1:30pm, and had trouble coming to consciousness in the middle of the night to remember my dream.

      2. Can deep sleep affect how much and how well you remember things?
When I come to consciousness at night (I'm guessing between periods of REM), instead of getting my journal and writing down my dream, I sit there, and try to remember it in a half-conscious state, and when nothing comes, I say screw it and fall back to sleep. It's very hard to controll myself and what I do in this state, as if the nothingness of sleep is a giant magnet.

I'm probably answereing my own question, but I'd like to verify with someone, and see if there's anything else that might be the problem.

When you have a consistant sleep cycle, with regular times, your body adjusts and you become tired when it's time to sleep. You will also begin to wake up when you usually do. Having an inconsistant sleeping cycle is never good for dreaming.

Set up regular times and try to keep them, also three days isn't much. For some people it can take weeks or months to achieve lucidity, just keep on trying and you'll get it one day

Having an inconstant sleep cycle can hinder you with lucid dreaming
when you go to bed this late, you are very tired when you fall asleep, from lack of sleep, so you go into deeper levels
having an inconstant schedule messes with your circadian rhythm
for example, if you wake up at 6am every day, your body is used to it, so sometimes or most of the time you wake up around 6 automatically, you can do this also with the aid of autosuggestion, but if you're sleeping schedule isn't constant, then this won't work because your body isn't used to it
just keep trying and you will get it, even if your sleep schedule is weird say, 2am to 11am, but it is constant, that is better than going to sleep and waking up completely different hours of the night, just try to practice some self discipline, you will get the hang of it for sure
      From my rotting body,
      flowers shall grow
      and I am in them
      and that is eternity.
