Even when lucid, not completely myself

So when I LD, usually I'm not completely myself down there. Before going to sleep, whether consciously or not, I have some notion of what I'd like to do in the dream. Then when I LD, I just sort of do what I had planned. However, I cannot think completely like I do when I'm awake.

Is there any way to do this? Do other people feel this too? Am I just not fully lucid?

Experiment in acting out in different ways to see what results you get. Overall is important to just observe at times and see where your lucid dream is taking you. Perhaps the dream is trying to tell you something and all it wants is for you to listen first before further exploring it.

      Best of luck.

You need to awaken your logical centres fully. Perform counting and basic maths once you become lucid and stabalize. That should make you more awake
