      Why the fluctuating dream recall?

Recently my dream recall has been fluctuating, so I'm focusing on recall before I jump into lucid dreaming after a dry spell.

I've kept a journal for about 6 months, and have had OK-ish recall, usually recalling a fragment-2 dreams per night.

Recently though, I go to sleep at 10:30, wake up at around 2AM, go back to sleep and wake at 6:30. Sometimes I remember most of a dream or two per night, but sometimes I wake up and just can't remember anything at all, and it's a bit frustrating.

Does anyone know why this is?

I'm not sure why this happens, I have the same issue. I was remembering at least 2 dreams per night, but recently I am remembering about 1 every two nights. It may have something to do with the amount of attention we give recall, it may be due to a change in... something. Perhaps it's something that just comes and goes?

A week ago I used to recall 2 fragments only.

I started using my DJ, saying some mantras before sleeping and trying to write in my DJ during the night, after waking up from a dream, when I am too tired or have to wake up soon in the other day, I write at least some notes that will help me remind the dream.

3 days after starting with this atitude I was recalling 4 or 5 dreams per night, and at least 2 of them usually are very detailed and vivid.
