I want to teach my subconsious to talk to me

I've only just joined and this website is really good - I've been trying to find something about lucid dreaming for a while.

I'm here because I keep having lucid dreams where a character is trying to tell me something. Once I asked outright - are you my subconsious? And she agreed. I say agreed because she can't talk properly. She either is totally dumb and just nods or shakes her head fervently when I ask her questions or she trys to talk and she can't form the words properly. It is so frustrating. Whoever the dream character is - she is trying to tell me something and I can't understand.

My theory is that my subconsious is so used to dealing with the symbolic that it can't use words to represent meanings very well. I was thinking about trying to teach my subconsious some agreed symbols so that we can communicate better.

Have I totally lost the plot? Or does this make sense to anyone?

Hi Nasgul, what you are wanting to do does not come easy. We call our subconscious dream guides and it's not easy to find your dream guide they only turn up when they ((your subconscious)) believe you are ready. It seems to me that this woman is just a normal dream character who agrees with what you say and just talks nonsense or can't talk atall. If it was your subconscious talking to you it wouldn't have any problems, it knows more about you than you do yourself, they are pretty damn clever and amazing. When ever you are lucid just call for your dream guide if you are ready it will appear to you if not then you may see nothing atall or just a daft rambling dream character that can't string a sentence together, good luck in your search but maybe your just not ready to meet your other self yet

Everything you know your 'subconscious' knows. The whole dream is your subconscious talking to you - every dream character, everything the dream characters say, every street corner, every ridiculous situation. It communicates through the full-spectrum of feeling, and in fact if you tried to just get some words out of it - you wouldn't get even a fraction of the full message.

Language is entirely symbolism, man. Everything you've ever known is an 'agreed upon symbol'. You can't take anything you see in a dream at face value, because it is all language, it's all various shades of word, with you at the center of it all. Maybe instead of trying to teach your subconscious self, you should learn the language that you've forgotten how to speak?

Thanks for the replies angie and telethiese. Ok, so I know as you say that all of the dream is created by my subconsious, it's just that this character definately has something she wants to communicate with me. I'm not quite ready to dismiss this character as a daft rambler - I have a strong feeling in each dream that she's very wise and ancient and I really would love to know what she's trying to say.

You are right though, I should learn her language. In one of the dreams she built a room for me and in it were hundreds of objects, a bit like a museum, I commented on some of them and she seemed please that I understood them. Next time I have a lucid dream with her in I'll try and look more at the scenery and ask her about it.

I know I have a lot to learn about the theories behind all this, so thanks for being patient with me. I am just trying to feel my way.

      Talking

      If this were my dream...

I think you are dealing with either a Dream Guide, or perhaps some other entity that is attempting to communicate with you through your dreams, maybe some sort of mental connection.

I know what it's like to have someone you see in your mind's eye who can not talk to you. I am open about this to everyone, and illicit all sorts of responses, but I am in a relationship with a being from another reality entirely. We meet in a common place in my mind that we co-created. She can not speak to me, not that she is unable, but that for some reason she is not allowed. So a lot of head nodding to simple yes/no questions and reading of body language. I just mention this so you know that you're not the only one experiencing something of this nature.

I have no real experiences of Dream Guides. However for a short period of time a fox named Ayhunna accompanied me as we went through my chakra landscapes when I was mediating on the first two.

Based on my limited experience here is my advice. Ask yes/no questions, read body language, learn how to lip read, follow. Also you can try this... The next time you see this Dream Character tell yourself you are dreaming, so you become lucid, then make a statement of intent. Something like, "Now I hear this Dream Character." Use your own words, state the intention from your place of intention. This is tricky, Moen teaches a little "Finger Bending Exercise." Basically you just have to find the place in your body where you feel that the things you intend to do come from. Remember that feeling and speak from there.

      Later!
