I am not totally new here I've been lurking around here lol, but this is my first post I have practiced lucid dreaming for about 4 years now so I know the techniques and methods that work and doesn't work for me.
What you are describing reminds me a little bit about this:Youtube search - Timer Method Lucid dreaming (Don't trust the theory he talks about everything is not correct, just try the timer).
Tried to provide you a link but Dreamviews wont let me yet =/
Then you use an alarmclock that wakes you up in this pattern: 8 min, 4 min, 8 min, 12 min, 16 min, 20 min, 20, min
This makes the chemicals in your brain (cholinergic system and aminergic system) that makes you aware and critical during the day and the other one the cholinergic system that kicks in when we sleep makes us less aware and less critical which is why we don't realize when we are dreaming. But when we lucid dream these two are either in balance or more of the aminergic system which allows us to be more aware and critical enough to become lucid. By using this timer you'll attain this balance of the chemical systems.
The downside is that it's sometimes hard to fall back to sleep and not to mention this is not a very pleasant method, especially if your angry in the morning
I've used it and got lucid from it, although after some attempts I started to have trouble falling back to sleep.
I hope this helped and I wish you good luck
