Actually, that's how I became lucid in my last dream. I was in a building that looked like an airport, but I clearly remembered being in bed before dozing off and slipping back into REM sleep. I couldn't remember leaving the house to go to the airport, so I knew I had to be dreaming.
2. Can you 'build' a setting and dream characters in a lucid dream and return to the that setting in a later lucid dream?
I don't see why not. I've been able to do it in non-lucid dreams. During a really stressful situation, I had a dream that there was a trapdoor in my bedroom that let me escape into a secret second bedroom. For months afterward, I would have recurring dreams of escaping into the secret room. The furniture would change between visits, but the trapdoor was always in the same place.
3. Do you remember lucid dreams as clearly as real memories or only as clearly as non-lucid dreams?
Memory can be a tricky thing. I remember my lucid dreams just as clearly as non-lucid dreams as long as I write them down. But I've also had dreams that seem to resemble early memories. As a kid, I used to have dreams about jumping up and down on the bed at my grandmother's house until I slipped and hit my forehead on the headboard. One day I mentioned it to a relative, who confirmed that this actually happened when I was a little over a year old.
4. Do you have to wake up from a lucid dream to remember a lucid dream?
Not quite sure what you're asking here, but as long as I stay focused in a lucid dream, I can remember what happened moments earlier in the dream without having to wake up.
