'SP', as you (and the majority of people in the LD community) use the term, is not true sleep paralysis, nor does it paralyze you in any way. It's just the hallucinatory sensations you get when entering WILD. True sleep paralysis is when you're actually awake and completely unable to move whether you want to or not, something that your friend will likely never experience with his condition. Alternatively, you are technically in sleep paralysis when you fall into a WILD, but it's not what causes those sensations, it's just what causes most people (not your friend) to stop moving while they're asleep.
