Why can't I have lucid dreams?

A few weeks ago, I was 2 for 2 for lucid dreams, now I'm like 2 for 9. Somehow, I can't have a lucid dream anymore. I stopped writing down dreams and forgot about reality checks because the last 2 weeks of school were hectic, can that be the reason I can't have lucid dreams? I tried to have one this morning but I couldn't go back to sleep and when I did...I just had a normal dream. What can I do to have another lucid dream?

School can certainly influence the amount of lucid dreams you have, the amount of dreams I write down and amount of lucid dreams I have during hectic school weeks or just other stressful events are drastically decreased, sometimes I forget about writing them down all together.
It is important that lucid dreaming is always somewhere in the back of your mind, but stressful events seem to push it out because it causes you to worry about other things, which are probably more important at that time.

So I think to counter it and still have lucid dreams you should try to focus more on lucid dreaming, keep writing you dreams down and keep performing reality checks as much as you can OR you should (like I do most of the time) just leave lucid dreaming for a short while until things cool down.

Yeah that's probably why, just keep doing what you were doing and you'll have them in no time

Meditation is recommended for lucid dream practitioners for two reasons: It makes you relax your body and your mind.

If something is stressful try to not let that affect your dream life so to speak. You don't have to sit in a lotus position and repeat mantras in order to make meditation effective.
Just go to bed with the intention of becoming aware of your dreams so you can recall them in the morning. So just say that in your mind quietly. Then imagine a chest with a heavy lid and imagine that you put all your problems in that chest. Then close the lid and forget about it completely, you have no use for your every day problem while practicing and they will only be in the way.
Then just focus on your breath, just BE in the moment and be aware of your breath. And now instead of trying to stop thinking, just observe what thoughts that come to your mind. And let yourself fall asleep. When you are more aware of your thoughts and eventually your normal dreams, you will start to get more vivid dreams and that will lead to spontaneous lucid dreams without reality checking and dream journal, but feel free to keep doing it if you want to.

      Good luck!

Don't worry, we all go through periods like that. Lucid dreaming takes lots of work, without you practicing and writing in DJ, you probably won't have any LD, or just an occasional one. So try not to stress over it. Get back to practicing and journaling when things in your life calm down and you will lucid dream again. Happy dreams
