Is my personality affecting the quality of my lucid dreams?

So I just had my first lucid dream after trying for almost half a year. It was cool, but one thing I noticed was that I couldn't really focus on things. Like I would try to observe my surroundings but would often get tunnel vision, or my vision would just simply go blank. I had minimal control over my environment. Basically, my dream felt lacking in comparison to real life
One thing that might explain this is that I'm generally not the most aware of people. Generally I don't notice details of my surroundings, and I'm often lost in my thoughts during the day. This might explain why achieving my first LD was so hard. Actually, before I started trying to LD I didn't even remember my dreams at all, and doubted I had them. So I guess I have come a long way lol.
Another detail was that this was WILD, not a DILD, so I had to put a considerable amount of effort to construct my dream environment. When I started I was looking at a wall of white space, and thinking hm... let me try constructing my bedroom. I tried, but it was all mutilated and jagged.
So was the lack of vividness related to my general lack of awareness, or the fact that it WILD? Will I be able to improve the quality of my LDs by putting more effort into paying attention to the little details of life?

Congratulations on your first lucid dream!

It's not the WILD attempt. This happens for some people. Improving focus and vision for some people can be as easy as turning on a light switch or putting glasses on (in the dream) but others have a harder time with this and it's not clear why.

Picking one thing to focus on in your environment might help. Work to find the detail there and expand.

This is possible. ADA (All Day Awareness) is a technique designed for exactly that. You might try looking here: Induction Techniques

That subsection of the forum is filled with Induction Techniques and methods to aid lucidity.

Keep working on the recall efforts!
