      My first lucid - Newbies must read!

      Hi. I'm writing this just after I had my first lucid and it's 11:30 am. I get up late I'll try to keep it structured but I really wanna pass on my experience to new people like mysef.

      I won't bore you with my dream but I want to get some messages out to new people like me that techniques you read do work and it's not a load of stupid stuff like I thought.

      At some point in my dream I realised I was dreaming and got excited and woke up. It's happened before. But I DIDN'T WAKE UP! It was a false awakening- I know that now. Anyway I moved to a different dream and I was in a school - it was also linked to my other dream where my IRL car was stolen. Anyway, for some reason I realised I was lucid but kept calm and used the 'spinning' technique and it lasted a little while. I found some people I know in the dream but eventually I woke up again.

      So this time I thought, is this actually a dream? I was sat there thinking it wa SO real so I bit my lip and pinched my hand a swore I felt pain... so I thought I was awake and entered another dream. I think here's anoter bit I can't remember because I was telling myself I was dumb for thinking I felt pain so i did the blow through nose RC instead - and then I knew I was dreaming! It was cool to feel that RC. Anyway this lucid lasted a good few minutes in dream time and I got a few things done, I tried a lot of techniques like I wanted to find someone and I thought 'When I turn around they will be behind me' or 'when I go through this door I will find what I am looking for'. Anyways eventually I woke up and called it quits since I was finally awake.


      As you can see I tried a lot of techniques that do actually work, i've been trying on and off for about two months now and finally got one after a huge WBTB. I got up at 8:30, took my car to the garage and went back to get around 10am. And wierdly enough, I woke up at 11:30 ish after this dream, so these dream cycles you hear about really make sense.

      Congratulations! all of the techniques here are backed up by experience, Common sense or science. It's sad that a lot of people give up so fast, but people need to realise that lucid dreaming takes practice and some work.

      It can take a while, and it's understandable that people lose motivation. But people shouldn't just give up, take a little break instead. Lucid dreaming is really something special, atleast that's how i feel about it. If people think it's all just a big 'scam', just do some research on the internet or read books about it. Then you will discover quickly that's it's all real.

      The best advice i can give people is to beleve in yourself! Don't think stuff like 'this is never gonna work', cause this will work against you. It's really sad to see so many people walk away from lucid dreaming cause they give up afther 1 week..

      But anyway keep it up Dbee, im sure you will have them more frequently now!

      how did it feel, was it vivid like real life or was it just like a normal dream but the only difference were that you know you were dreaming??

      Pretty much, once I did a reality check and knew I was dreaming I could do whatever I wanted. Like I stated earlier I wanted to find someone so I thought 'when I turn around, they will be sat there' and they were.

      I was also looking for another room in particular, so I went through a door I saw and thought 'the room will be through here' and it was.

      I didn't see this thread yesterday. Good job dbee! It's great that you were able to continue your dreams after your FAs! That was a fantastic first LD experience. Good job.
