      3 Questions regarding Lucid Dreaming?

I have three questions regarding Lucid Dreaming:

      1. How can you induce Lucid Dreaming through Sleep Paralysis?
Early this morning I had SP, I usually fight the feeling until I snap out of it, but I tried a different approach this time and calmed myself down, wiggled my toes a bit and tried to give into the feeling but then I suddenly felt like I was choking/couldn't breathe so I 'woke up' in a fright. So how can I avoid waking myself up/snapping out the feeling and start LD? (I did a few reality checks to see if I was really awake)

      2. Similar to above question;
How can I avoid waking up everytime I get near to LD?
About two nights ago as I fell asleep I heard a whisper in my ear saying "Wake up, you're sleeping" and opened my eyes and was fully awake (did reality checks to see if I was awake or asleep)

      3. Why do I start feeling light, like i'm floating before I fall asleep?
I sometimes lie in bed and meditate before I fall asleep, during this process (or I think it's a few seconds before I fall asleep) I start feeling very light, like I'm about to start floating off my bed and my ears start blocking off any excess noise (like background talking/noises get silenced). Is this related to the meditation or am I about to start LD?

      Thanks.

      Hello
      1. Sleep paralysis is the gateway to lucid dreaming, because during this state your body thinks your asleep but your still conscious. Because of this the brain begins creating the dream. The only way to avoid waking your self up is to stick through it. Sleep paralysis is harmlesd and cannot hurt you. Also, you can induce the state of sleep paralysis through methods like WILD and DEILD techniques.

      2. To avoid waking up in a lucid dream you use dream stabilization techniques. I will post some of the more popular ones here.
When u enter the dream or u feel it is ending, spin rapidly to create a new dream scene.
When you first enter a lucid dream, touch everything around you to anchor yourself in the dream.
Rub your hands when a dream starts to get blurry or in the beginning of one.
When a dream is about to end, dive into the earth and everything will turn to black. Keep diving down and you will enter a new dreamscene.

      3. When you meditate, you are putting your brain into theta mode, the same brainwaves you experience diring dreams and sleep paralysis. You may get a very lightweight feeling and/or see hypnogogic imadry. It is completely normal.

Well jblb mentioned everything . I Think you should check out yuppies DEILD guide. You'll end up in Sleep Paralysis immediately and it doesn't last very long. You just gotta stay positive during SP and just remember nothing can hurt you. Just try to imagine a white bright light around you and just go with the flow. Here's yuppies DEILD guide btw: http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/yuppie...-dream-126343/

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

I'll expand on 3: that feeling you get means you are falling asleep. The motion comes from the dream your mind is creating.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies

Is it possible to not experience any hallucinations during SP?

And how can I start controlling my dream once i'm there? My dreams are extremely vivid, though not as vivid as real life.
I do (rarely) sometimes realize in my dream that I am dreaming but unable to control my surroundings, so I end up watching everything happening like a movie until I wake up.
Is this just a normal dream or am I starting to LD?

Its possible not to experience hallucinations in SP, although its very rare. Once your in a dream, after stabilizing the dream, start doing small things like telekinesis and walking through walls to get your brain to realize you are in control. Whats is important also is to know that you can do ANYTHING if you truly believe it. If you expect something to happen it will. Thats why in nightmares you think the murderer is going to find you and he always does xD For your third question it sounds like you were having a third person lucid dream. A third person dream is a dream in which you are watching from almost like a bird's eye view. You are simply floating in the air watching events unfold. Any dream in which you know you are dreaming is considered lucid. It was probably just a low quality lucid dream. Hope this helped!

I must be extremely lucky then I've never experienced any hallucinations during SP, though I think i'd have a heart attack if I saw a dark figure standing in my room.

The problem I've been experiencing is I fall asleep, sometimes aware i'm dreaming but can't control anything then wake up and can remember everything clearly, and feel **** I missed my chance to try lucid dream AGAIN. Do you think I could be trying too hard?
And does it mean anything if most of my dreams are darkish? I've only seen 'daylight' / full blown colour once in my dreams before, most of them are either during 'nighttime' or they're just kinda grey/black.

This is more difficult than I thought...

      1. Try to see sleep paralysis as a sneeze, you can't induce it completely on your own it's something that happens naturally. If you sneeze without something irritating your nose, something is wrong.
If your body paralyses without your mind being asleep something is wrong! Feeling small vibrations, hearing ringing noises, H*ll even starting hallucinating isn't sleep paralysis!
It's your body's sign of getting more and more relaxed, when you dream vividly and no longer are aware of the physical reality, that is when sleep paralysis kicks in.
The sensation of not being able to breathe happens when you get more relaxed, it happens but just ignore it, you can breathe!
On the internet people like to call every sensations they feel "sleep paralysis" it makes them feel confident because they know that sleep paralysis happens when we are close to dreaming (WRONG it happens WHEN we dream). What's not making them confident is not being able to get from what they call "sleep paralysis" to the dream. I think what people mistake as sleep paralysis, is actually the hypnagogic state.

You can wake up in sleep paralysis during the night, but just remember that sleep paralysis have nothing to do with you being close to a dream. In fact if you wake up during the night and feel weird sensations, the most likely explanation might be that you are still dreaming!

      2. Hmm it sounds to me like you were in the dreaming focus, but either got excited or scared and returned to physical focus or you had some bad luck and just stopped being in REM, even though REM isn't completely necessary to dream, but that's another story.

      3. Feeling spinning sensations or floating sensations is completely normal, I think I read somewhere that (the thing that control balance in your ear), dunno what it's called starts vibrating or not doing what it usually do, while we are getting more and more relaxed, so that is one explanation.

I hope this helped. But what's important to know while doing WILD is there is only two steps (two big steps) RELAX -> Focus on your MIND while staying aware.
Focus on your mind not your body. Where do you want to be? Focused on the physical body or the mind (dream)?
