      Lucid Situations

Today while i was doing my usual reality checks i came across something which i feel i am 'scared' of. After doing my hand reality check i considered what i would do if i became lucid at that moment. I was in the car with my brother and i figured it would be scary if i realised i was dreaming and was stuck in the car. Because not only would I be scared that it was actually reality but also that i wouldn't be able to leave the car since i have little dream control. Therefore i guess my question is whether there are any ways to get rid of this fear or to not let me get stuck in these situations or even combat them. What do you guys think?

Well that's the nice thing about dreaming, it's not real! So there is really no reason to be scared of situations like that. Just remember that ur safe in your bed sleeping, and nothing can happen to you. Situations like these are always a good way to improve your dream control aswell. Hope this helps you a little bit.

      Hello
So from my understanding you are afraid that you might be lucid in a bad spot, like trapped in like a car or room because you have little dream control? Funny you mention that because i actually became lucid in a car once. In the car i tried jumping out of the windshield, but my body got stuck in between the car and outside, but i managed to nudge my way through. By the way, dream control is all based on expectation. Whatever you expect to happen WILL happen. After all, its your own imagination right? Thats why in nightmares when your hiding under a table, the killer always manages to find you after you think to yourself "He's going to find me here!" Believe 100% that if you become lucid in a closed off area, you can easily just walk through whatever lies in your path and you will, i guarantee it. What you can do to help walk through walls is you can imagine yourself transparent and as a ghost. This state of mind will probably allow you to simply walk or float through whatever is closing you off. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies guys. But that helps a lot with the first part where I can't dream control myself out of the issue. The second part is that I am never 100% sure that it is a dream :/ imagine if I jumped out the car window in real life maybe it just comes with practice and knowing the dream state?

Well for your safety, please do a reality check before you jump out of your car window!

When my reality checks suggest that I'm dreaming, I never really fully believe them

That's strange! What one are you doing, if i may ask? The noseplug one is the best one. (never fails me )

Usually the dreamworld has a different feeling than reality. I just know I'm in a dream when i become lucid. I rarely have to do a reality check to find out. But you should definitely trust your reality checks. Its pretty obvious your in a dream when your fingers go through your hands or you can breathe out a plugged nose xD.

I count my fingers and even if I have like 6 then I am skeptical. I also can tell its a dream and I can differentiate between real life and a dream when I count more than 5 fingers but the 'what if it isn't a dream' is just frightening. I guess practice will help and experience. Thanks guys

I know how you feel.. When I realized how vivid dreams were, I was afraid that I would jump out of windows and die, you know if I got drunk in physical life or something.
It have not happened yet though... But that's probably another reason why you shouldn't use the bracelet reality check Have a reality check that really is bullet proof.
For example look at your hands and look at your fingers and count them! In my latest hand initiated lucid dream (lol) My long fingers was 1 cm long haha.
Or the nose plug reality check, plug your nose with you fingers and try to breathe in (or out). It might look silly but now you know IT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE!

Ok enough with the goofiness When you have experienced more and more lucidity you will notice that you awareness feels different and that will also help you to determine if you are awake or not.

Stay safe and good luck =)

Ps. What if I told you that you are still dreaming. O . O

I've tried the fingers through the palm of the hand, but with me then it usually doesn't work. However with the nose plug RC check then that has been reliable for me.
You will be amazed just how 'real' some lucids can appear at the time.

Lmfao. I should try this out! x)

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Noseplug works well for me most of the time too. However, there was a time when I got lucid, did the noseplug, but I couldn't breathe (which indicated I was irl). Luckily, I was so sure it was a dream that I did it three times until I could breathe with my nose pinched. I probably should've just tried another RC but I was so annoyed that it wasn't working even though I know it was a dream. Not sure what happened in that dream that the RC went wrong though. Probably because somewhere in my mind I had a tiny voice expecting it not to work x)
