Hmm the way I understand it, you're saying that you get lucid right before you wake up? Perhaps that's because at the end of your REM cycle, you start to gain consciousness (hence you wake up a bit, probably roll over without noticing, then go back to sleep). Since you are slowly gaining consciousness and wakefulness, it could trigger you to get lucid, like your brain wakes up just before your body ends the cycle. Then you get lucid for a bit, then the cycle finally ends. That's just a theory though. x)
I agree, you should probably work on awareness more, so you get lucid earlier on in the dream. If that doesn't work, you can try DEILDing, which seems to be a perfect alternative for when you wake up from a lucid, you maintain your awareness before slipping back into the dream.
