      broke my dryspell!!!

Hey, posting this while making coffee and eating so may make some spelling mistakes.
I have had no lucid dreams in three while weeks,
But last night I went on King Yoshi's WILD guide.
I didn't use WBTB but yet I somehow had a WILD, and it lasted so long! No stability issues.
I think about two hours into it I remembered to stabilize.
I was going through the dream just revelling in the fact that I'd found a good technique for me at last.
It was quite odd though- I suppose due to the dry spell, my control isn't that good. I was in a restaurant and trying to get some food with only small change, and I was trying to morph my small change into ten pound notes (about 15 dollars)
Just by thinking I'd put my hand in my pocket and there it's be.
I also kept trying to conjure up this one girl, but that was right at the end of the dream, my alarm woke me up as I was about to do the "door" trick.
Hopefully I'll LD again tonight and get my good ol' control back, I used to be able to do pretty much anything I wanted.
So this LD, while I did nothing really in it, was still enjoyable just because I was lucid.
It was also the longest and most lucid dream I've ever had, like it had its own dedicated server.
So, thanks a bunch to King Yoshi if he reads this, and I recommend his WILD thread (I'll post a link later) to you all!

      hi sramsay,

how did you break your dry spell? I mean, just a standard WILD, or any particular techniques you'd care to share? Also, what about DJ, RC signs etc.? How do you do it?

      Congrats

I've fallen off the track with lucid dreaming a few times but to cure my dry spells all I had to do was feel determined to be lucid, think about becoming lucid in my dreams during the day, doing reality checks randomly and pretty much just constantly thinking about it as much as I could. Doing these things are good but you gotta be sure you are remembering enough of your dreams so keeping a dream journal is a must I think if you can't remember them!

Wow, congratulations! Was this your first WILD? Did you get to taste the food?

      Hey guys,
Goldenspark- I had it in my head that I was an expert at lucid dreaming and that I could have one at will, sort of a mind-over-matter thing.
      The technique is this:
You tense every muscle in your body and then relax it, and keep your whole body relaxed.
After a minute or two of having your eyes closed, blink them open and shut again, once. Keep doing this every minute or so while breathing deeply through your mouth- through the nose requires you to use certain facial muscles, so it will take longer.
After a while, your eyelids should feel heavy and hard to open. Now you have to roll on your side, thinking that you're going to go straight into your lucid dreaming. Visualize the dream while breathing.
After another ten minutes, roll over again.
And so forth until you get your WILD.
WILDs are meant to be done with WBTB and naps I think, but this worked first time at the time I normally go to sleep. It was a perfect WILD, so long and clear, and while I did stabilize twice, it was only because I had no idea how long the perfection would last and was a little paranoid.

And yes, I could taste the food- it was chocolate and toffee muffins, delicious. I may go back there tonight, hopefully eat some more if I can actually use my conjuration techniques.
I tried something else as well- putting your hand behind you and expecting to feel something there, to conjure it. A user names Rothgar posted this, not sure if he invented it but I learned it from him. I couldn't use it well but I was close enough!

I didn't do any reality checks, and while I do have a DJ, I'm not using it as I remember my lucids perfectly and usually think about them all day. I may start writing in it again though, to get more DILDs.
I'm trying the WILD technique again in half an hour, AND setting my alarm for my WBTB time just in case. If I'm super lucky I may have two WILDs tonight! That would be so awesome

Thanks sramsay12, congrats on your breakthrough - I'm very envious!

I've been trying those techniques but can't seem to quite get there. I like your method of turning over during the WILD. I've always been paranoid that moving at all will break the spell. I'll try that tonight!

Oh, I didn't invent it- I got if from King Yoshi.
It does work quite well, because if you're having no luck with ordinary WILD methods, this one lets you just start over again, and within four turn-overs, as long as you don't stray from the method described, you're bound to get a lucid dream. False awakenings are still tricky though- you may go into a dream about trying to get your lucid dream, and you don't do a reality check because you're trying to get into sleep paralysis, but this would only happen if you let your mind wander.
Good luck with tonight, I hope that you have a good long one like mine regularly!

Oh that's cool! Tasting food in a lucid is a goal for many people, me included.
So you used KingYoshi's WILD technique?

      Yes, that's the one!
It didn't work last night, but there was a lot of noise from trucks outside and some drunk people shouting across the street, so tonight I'll play some ambient music to block it out

      Go for it.

I've always wanted to do DEILD, but the few times I attempted I fell asleep too quickly. :I I do like MILD, though. Good luck.

Have you ever tried the OOBE research centers DEILD method? I just got my 2nd LD from it!! (my first one I wasn't trying to get one) The basics of it is that you set an alarm 4-7 hours after you fall asleep, wake up get a glass of water go to the bathroom (basically perform a WBTB) go back to sleep and when you wake up naturally, immediately try to separate from your body, which they claim 50% of "phase entrances" happen at. If that doesn't work go to these cycles in which you perform different methods like observing images, rotation, etc. 3 of these 4 different cycles. I fit doesn't work you fall back asleep and try it again. Since you did the WBTB you should wake up semi frequently. You should read there book on it its a free pdf on there website. Just search OOBE research center on google. I'm going to try it again tonight and hopefully get lucky.

I don't want to an OBE, though, just a lucid dream.

OBE's are the same exact thing as lucid dreams! All you have to do once you performed an OBE is walk through a door knowing that "insert dreamscape here" is on the other side. There is also a lot of other ways to do the same thing, but OBE=lucid dream=astral projection.

Ah, is that so? The whole OBE and Astral Projection thing always confused me, since I never really delved into it much. Maybe I'll try that technique then.

      Hey,
I can't read it as I'm using my phone for the Internet, my computer is in for repairs.
That does sound like an interesting technique, but I'm going to stick with WILD and MILD combo that I'm trying out right now. I'll give it a week and try what you suggest. I believe that DEILD techniques like those are called "indirect" techniques.
I've noticed if I listen to music by Agalloch, my favourite band ever, because it's quite psychedelic, I go into a near-sleep state very fast.
People say that death metal and the like makes it hard to fall asleep, but Agalloch use black metal vocals and it completely zones me out, so well done. If I can focus on the music and think about lucid dreaming at the same time, I'd find WILDing to be very easy. I'm actually getting into the habit of mixing naps with meditation now- nearly went into SP earlier on. Anyway, about your method, good luck with it and hopefully it'll work well for you!

Well, when it comes to "astral projection", I think that lucid dreams and OBEs are meant to both be on lower astral planes, but never used as interchangable terms. So there may be a line between them, albeit a very thin one.
