      Sleep breathing

Hi guys, I have been trying to get into SP for several months now (since March, with about 10-20 tries a month) but I stil haven't succeeded in getting into SP

So what I noticed while trying is that when I'm very (extremely) relaxed, my breathing is almost unnoticeable and I actually get those feelings you get when SP is 'initiating'. However, I saw this as an illusion of the mind due to a shortage of air and such.
A while ago I was googleing this 'sleep breathing' and I noticed a topic on it that stated that when your breathing rhythm is the same as your sleep breathing rhythm, some people may achieve SP faster.

So I now believe that the feeling I felt was the SP initiating and have tried it twice now and both times almost worked. Almost? Yes, almost, because I have bumped into a certain blockade: when I almost get into SP I have the problem that I am still 'awake', so when my body gets this feeling I become a bit excited and my lust for air increases, forcing me to breath faster or inhale more air. But when I try to supress this need for breathing or just let my body do what it wants, SP will be aborted immediately.

It happened one time to me that I was so unaware of me still being awake that my body passed this blockade and got into a farther region of SP, the part where you don't feel 'you' breathing anymore. Since this was the first time this far, I began asking questions: am I still breathing? Why can't I feel anything? Even though I know that the part below your neck get paralysed and I could feel my belly going up and down (breathing). So I 'activated' my brain again and that way I failed to get into SP again.. The last couple of days I tries this again without succes.

Do you have experience with this or know a solution to this problem? Please help!

Sadly I can only say to you that i've experienced these exactly feelings after getting lil excited, this lust for air, all the same. I simply cant reach a closer to SP status without having these feelings that mess things up... and yes my curiosity and self questioning about things like am I breathing fuck things up 2... ;P I've reached some cool-almost-not-feeling-my-body but my excitement seems to be a problem. Anyways, I hope someone with a good experience about this can give u (and me why not ) some tips to keep going...

Back in the day people described a demon riding their chest's and suffocating them when they entered SP, so perhaps it's something like that.

My advice to you though is to give another technique a go, there are a few that are easier than WILD and they work just as good. Do it before you get burned out, you can always go back to WILD later on once you're more used to your body, perhaps start meditating daily.

Could you give me some examples of techniques to try?
And what do you mean with 'Do it before you get burned out'?

When I failed to get into SP I gave up, rolled over on my other side and fell asleep immediately, leading to non-lucid MILD's several times, and remembering full dreams when waking up (without knowing how the dream began and ended of course).

I mean trying over and over without success for long periods of time, and in the end just giving up on the thought of lucid dreaming. Check this link out: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

It summarizes everything and explains all the different techniques. I use the MILD + WBTB technique and it works great!

I will read it thoroughly tomorrow, tonight I will use an 'extra' thing I've been thinking of: using relaxing music/music I like to distract me and keep my thoughts away from how I breath, that may work.

I will post feedback here tomorrow!

Try the DEILD technique. It is basically an easy version of WILD. Wake up and don't move. Your body goes through SP a lot quickly. Here is a guide.
