Super intelligence in the dream world?

      Hello
I would answer this question myself, however i can't get a lucid dream frequently enough, so until i can answer it myself, i'm going to ask :
Do calculators work in a lucid dream? furthermore, can you get people to teach you about subjects you've always wanted to know about?
If calculators work, then that means that your brain is actually far MORE capable than you would think, and the well known phrase 'humans only use 10% of their brain' would be more true... For example, in a dream, in the calculator if you typed 2049x3683 and you got an answer, if that answer was correct, because your brain was powering the calculator, that would mean that you worked that sum out? I don't know about anyone else, but performing that sum irl in your head would be impossible for me

Similarly, if you could get someone to teach you about an unknown subject, then surely you would get someone to teach you the mysteries of the universe?

Some autistic savants could do that quite easily so the question is not can your brain do it, but if it will let you. As for learning new things and the mysteries of the universe I have no idea if it would work or not.

Firstly the statement "we only use 10% of our brains capacity" is ridiculous and is probably the worst made up "fact" there is. Our brain is divided into several modules each only capable of a certain task, therefore you cannot combine each of their processing power and call it the brain's capacity, each one has its own strength.
With that out the way it actually is possible to access a higher level of intelligence in your dream, i've done some really hard sums quite quickly. However the answer is usually wrong we just get the sensation that it is correct. Even in a lucid dream 1+1 can still equal 5

I beleve that in a dream you can think outside the box a lot better. Some of the technology wouldn't be here if it wasn't for dreams. So you could say that in a way your smarter, but it just depends from what point of view your looking at it. About the calculating part, you could "cheat" easy in your dreams. Remember that you can visualise a problem in your dream, so in a way you could easy do this. Although like dutchraptor said, there is a good chance that you will just "manipulate" yourself in thinking your right. It just depends on your dream control.

All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.

Hm, that sounds interesting, when i get better at achieving lucidity i'll try it
also, i knew that the 10% brain capacity was rubbish, if you were using that little of your brain it'd all be used up on learning to walk. Just saying that if in a dream you're smarter, then you obviously don't use your whole brain to it's full extent irl

Appearently when you dream, your brain is most active, so that may explain certain things.

Researchers found that certain areas of the brain are extremely active during the REM sleep state, even more active than being awake. Studies have shown that certain visual areas of the human cortex, which decode complex visual scenes, are significantly more active during REM sleep. Intense activity is also observed in the limbic system, which is a set of structures heavily involved in human emotion.
