Lucid dreaming is a unique state of consciousness. Most of the time the feeling won't be the same as real life, this applies to memory aswell. Awareness has different "levels", this means that your awareness can be quite foggy at times, or it can be just as good as waking life, maybe even better. I think there are some exercises and techniques you can do to increase your awareness, or atleast increase the chances for a higher awareness. (Meditation, stabilization techniques, and so on..)
But it could be, ii also realize that, sometime, when strong lucid it really felt, Awareness is a kind of control of dream, if you got awareness then you get control, i 3x time get control becoz i was aware that i am dreaming..
