It's basically thought energy, the more you focus on thinking that the likelihood that something will happen, it will eventually happen. All you have to do is know that it may be possible, but you can shift your focus towards something you want, and what you don't want will gradually cease to exist.
I had a lot of problems in my non-lucids where I would be hiding inside some building, getting to a dead-end with guards aiming their guns at me, and doing all sorts of things to escape, but there were cases where I just stopped, thought about it being something else, and it usually ended up that the paranoia was just the problem.
Just focus on what it is that you want and how it will feel when you reach it, people tend to focus on what they don't want because they're trying to avoid it. They keep thinking about it, worrying about it, and forget the first intention. Good luck
