      The Dream Sandbox

This idea might have emerged before (Tell me if it has), but I considered it independently. My idea is that remembering my dream goals once Lucid is an arduous task and I should lessen the load a bit.

If I design a park in waking life and associate my goals with it, it can become a dream testing place where I can visit for the purpose of dream control. My idea is to have multiple sections to facilitate different aspects of dream control. If I design it in waking life it may become consistent to dreams, and when I see it I will know I'm dreaming.

      Pending Tests:
      • Element Control
      • Scene Control
      • DC control
      • Getting into a bed and sleeping/dreaming within the dream (Inception anyone?)

      Complete Tests:
      • Flying
      • Mirrors and how the brain mutates the body's appearance in dreams

In conclusion, this proposed idea will help further understanding of physics and dreams.

      How does this concern you?
Well, if you would like I would ask you to post on this thread a Sandbox workbook. When you have an LD to spare, pop into your sandbox and start testing things on your list. If the idea kicks off, we might even get a forum category dedicated to individual sandbox workbooks. While workbooks and DVA classes are a great idea, and a truly original and helpful concept in themselves, I think research could be undertaken as well, so that we can share results and increase our oneironautical knowledge.

So what the heck, why not jump on this crazy conceptual bandwagon!

Hmm! I knew I wasn't alone in this, but instead of a park...I have a fortress, and I've made it in my dreams. Along with sketching it so I remember to go back to in my dreams. I use it to think peacefully, and for studying. Sometimes to practice things, very nice Idea.

Awesome! Could you describe the fortress a bit? If I set mine as a fortress I would have one room with several DC's in it and I would practice DC control in that one, and another with mirrors on each surface just to see how disorienting it would be.

Sure, Well it has the main concept of what a fortress is...I've got guard DC's that usually just walk around and act "dumb", on good nights I can see everything in detail. I dream t it out of dark stone, ancient looking, and has multiple levels to it. I have a circular chamber that is filled with books, and I can sometimes pick them up and read them. I also use the books to practice telekinesis. I have a mirror room for focusing, along with a chamber full of water for making advance portals.. Feel free to ask for more detail.

I like the idea of designing a headquarters in rl along with the kind of rooms you need. For instance OP, you want to practice control, you set up a testing facility.
I'd like to have an armory, combat training chaimber, serenity/meditation room and a command center for plotting expeditions and journeys.

Very cool idea to design places in advance and visit your work. And a base of operations that can be a re-ocurring element in your dreams is an easy and handy way to get DILD

Thanks, it would be nice if the sandbox was a large collaborative project with stock images of various sandboxes people can choose from and edit in-dream.

Haha yeah thats the aim. Kinda like waking incubation. If people so chose they could add a portal room with one portal that they can use to transition to any scene.

I looked at myself in a mirror once in a lucid dream. This actually woke me up when I saw no reflection. My mind immediately went to "Am I dead?" . Poof! Awake.

OMG brrrrrrrrr shiver . . . I felt instant cold in my bones . . . great image, but it's stuck in my head now, like a clinging smell.
I'm about to go to bed, maybe I'll - ahhh - find something else to do?

I haven't thought of this before, but it seems like a magnificent concept. If I were to create one of these, how would I be sure that it would replicate in the dream in the exact way that I designed it? I know that what I would expect to be there would play a large part in what I see in the dream, but I feel like the subconscious might add or remove certain things. I am definitely interested in this and I'll be starting my design shortly. If there's any extra information I should know about this, or you want to exchange ideas and so on, I'd be happy to share thoughts about this.

I have made such a place. It is a big area that I'm constantly expanding. So far I have a small village with a amusement park, a pokemon stadium, a harbour with a pirate ship. Next to my village I have a castle and next to that a prehistoric forest. This way I don't have to change my dreamworld if I want to do something else, I just walk there. :p
