Question How Do You See Pictures When You Close Your Eyes?

I know it's called visualizing but, I want to see something. All I see is VERY dark purple, red, green and stuff. How do you see actual stuff? I try but it never works out.

Imagine a storyline. imagine, for starters, yourself walking somewhere. what i would do is think that until i subconsciously (not consciously) start to make a storyline. it's like going on auto pilot and someone else is making your storyline. the more you get into the storyline the more clear the image will be. haha, theoretically speaking

Just as lonewolf101 said...it's like autopilot, you shouldn't try so hard and it gets better in time...the more u believe the (images/visualizations) are real the more vivid they will be

I've recently been experimenting with immersive daydreaming/visualization.I've found two things so far.

One: Like someone above me said, you can't try to be too controlling with it. If you simply nudge it along with, say, a couple keywords, or a memory or certain feeling you are going for, it will start developing on its own. Also, it helps to be relaxed. If you've been laying down for about 15 minutes, as opposed to 5 minutes, the visualizing will come much more naturally.

You have to give into your subconscious a little. Think about it this way, when you are dreaming, surrounded by an environment of your own imagination, YOU aren't directly in control of it...its your subconscious! Let it do its thing.

Two: This has been becoming more and more obvious to me, and seems to help a lot. When i was visualizing before, I was always trying to actually SEE it in front of my closed eyes... that is to say...I was trying to use my eyes to imagine/visualize things. Now...that's plain silly. Cause your eyes are closed!

Here is the trick: Ignore the eyes/the darkness in front of you. They're of no use to you when daydreaming/visualizing. Instead, look INWARD. its your mind that's going to provide you with the imagery you seek, not your eyes.

Its really hard to explain...but if you manage to ignore trying to "visualize with your eyes" you will get what I'm saying.

      I hope that helped somehow.

Thats a good description on how to visualize but it is possible to visualize trying to use your eyes and it can be quite cool. If you don't know what it looks like just gently push your eyes inwards as they are closed, like when youi rub your eyes. After a few seconds you will see patterns or faces emerging if you allow them. With practise you can get the same effect without touching your eyes but it can take a while to get the hang of it.

Same thing used to always happen to me. ok like for example I would be laying down, and the I'd try to imagine something, and i mean really intensely, and then my eyes would start twitching( thats what i called it. i dont know if its the same as yours.). theres to things i tried that made it stop:

I opened my eyes. in my room, it's pitch black so me opening my eyes was just like me closing my eyes, since i couldn't really see anything either way. When i did that my eyes wouldn't twitch, and would kind of shut by itself, eliminating the twitching.

The other way is to not think to much. seriously. just, for example, think of yourself walking down a path. thats it. dont imagine a dinosaur coming out of nowhere, or anything crazy. just that. your mind would take care of the rest on its own. if you try this tonight, i would love to hear the results tomorrow.
