Been very busy so I haven't been trying to LD recently... however...

I have been quite busy with life at the moment, and I have been forgetting to do RC's and generally thinking about LD'ing.

One weekend, I had some spare time to lie in and I tried to LD... I am not sure if it worked because I have only really had an LD from doing a hand RC - but in this dream I do remember becoming lucid (I think) but without my RC.

It was a long dream in which I wasn't lucid and I do not remember much, but I distinctly remember knowing I was in a dream somehow and I stopped my "dream story" to tell the DC that I am dreaming and I could fly. So I began to lift off the floor and hover about 15 foot high... I then distinctly remember thinking that the surroundings of this dream were so vivid and had a moment of euphoria. After that I continued with the dream non-lucid and do not remember much.

My question is: Did I actually obtain lucidity here, because I can remember this part of the dream so well (I haven't written it down and I can still remember - when it happened last week) - but I was confused when I woke up because I didn't do my normal RC. Is it possible I just spontaneously obtained lucidity mid-dream without an RC because I was thinking about it while having a long lie in, waking up between dreams?

      - it's strange because I know I was euphoric taking in the dream's vividness, but I've never had a dream where I have obtained lucidity without an RC and then lost lucidity again... I generally wake up after an LD and this is why I am questioning it.

It just seems so surreal - if you know what I mean... I know I did dream and feel it... but it still feels like it never happened... like a dream... lol.. Did I become lucid, or did my dream "fake" a lucid attempt? I know it's hard to answer because you wasn't there, but I am curious to see if other people have experienced this before.

      Cheers

Life can be busy at times, but remember that as long as you sleep, there is always an oppurtunity to do something.

Meditate yourself to sleep and well fall asleep peacefully, it can do wonders and you wont need any method at all just sleep.

And when you got the time you can use an induction method if you would like to.

Although a word about lucidity. Lucid simply means that you know that you are dreaming. So what does that mean?
Well to really understand it you need to know what it means to know, which is a very diifficult question to answer.

And well that means that it is up to you to decide, if you think you knew you were dreaming then you probably was.

And remember that you can be lucid without being very aware at all and you can be aware without being very lucid.

You can be as aware as you are now in the waking life and think rationally, but you are just convinced at the time that it is a dream, in fact many of my dreams nowadays is very real and then I wake up and think "Jesus Christ was that a dream...". And sometimes I am lucid (know that I am dreaming) without realizing that I am in fact laying in a bed, have dream control, have knowledge that dream characters isn't real, the situation I was in before getting lucid isn't important.

So as you see awareness and lucidity is very hard to define. And the only one who can make an educated guess is yourself.

The most annoying thing though is that one can dream that one is lucid as well, also called semi-lucid.

And this is basically a dream where you say things like "Oh there is a dream characters" or "Since this is a dream I would like to fly" although in these dreams you are very aware of the situation but you aren't actually aware that it is a dream. But it can only be determined by you.

So if you wake up from a dream unsure if it was a lucid dream or not, it probably wasn't. However why does it even matter? The reason that you want to lucid dream isn't to know that you are dreaming, but to experience something. So if you have a semi-lucid just be glad that you had an interesting experience.
And remember to appreciate the experiences your non-lucid dream provides you as well.

Pay attention to the dream in itself because lucidity isn't something you can be aware of, it's the dream that is important.

Awareness is different from lucidity, because awareness is an ambigous term of having knowledge and information, but lucidity is just a term to describe one kind of knowledge, the knowledge of knowing that one is dreaming.

I hope this clear some things up.

Thank you it does help and I see what you mean now...

My first lucid I was so aware and I knew I was just in my bed, so it was definitely a dream because I didn't know how i got to my location (dream scape).

However, with this one... I somehow knew I was dreaming, but I don't think I thought about waking life (at least I don't remember).

All I remember is that I stopped the dream action and just flew up and pondered the surroundings for about a minute, in absolute awe with regards to the vividness and beautiful landscape.

And taking your words, at least I experienced something and I have nice memories

Yes and every experience can be of value if you let it.

Haha when I meditate my "goal" even is to experience nothingness so in a sense even nothingness can be of value! ^-^ Wordplay..

Although keep analyzing your attempts and look for things to adjust, but always have a positve mindset to every experience. And your goal should be to learn, not to experience.

Because instead of thinking "Ahh no lucid dream this night either", you can think "Okey so from this I learned this and this etc." and as you learn more and more you will slowly but steady go torwards your experience in a natural matter and beyond.
      Sweet dreams

I like a lot what MasterMind said "meditate yourself to sleep", it works wonders for me, a really potent method that is nowhere near as hard as WILD because you allow yourself to loose consciousness but after a productive meditation your sleeping mind is not the same...
