What is reality?

I've been trying to attain lucidity for a while, and I haven't been successful yet. But today i made a huge discovery. What is reality? I mean, spend more time studying the things that occur around you, why is this normal to us? I think we create our own reality, I can't explain too much, but I hope this little helps you understand what I mean, here's something I wrote down a couple of minutes ago.

I believe, that people have different ways of understanding eachother like we create our own reality but some few can share the same thoughts and feel more connected and feel that it is less unusual to have these thoughts. I think that everything they've got us to believe is normal, becomes normal. I think that if we tell ourselves that we believe in this, and that this is normal, they've just fed us up with things that they want us to believe.
I mean that freedom isn't being out of jail, or to drive a car the first day you get your drivers license. I believe that the mind is freedom. And that the soul is just a key to connect to other people that share the same meaning of Freedom. I could write forever on my thoughts of this subject, they pop up all the time, and I have NEVER been like this before. UNTIL I STARTED STUDYING THE THINGS THAT OCCUR AROUND YOU.
Anyone feel the same or get me right ? Or am I just mentally ill

SlickPot you are not mentally ill , not at all , i believe its a massive achievement for a person to realize at some point of their life that reality is subjective not objective , and that realization becomes your first step to discover Human Condition ,the more you read and research and observe the more clear it gets that reality is a subjective matter.this can effect your whole life for example it will make you less judgmental towards the things that feel unfamiliar to you. good luck

In my opinion, reality is nothing. Why should a dream be less real then our lifes? Rules of our universe could crash now and end everything we "know". So yes, the only reality we have to consider is the one we perceive, maybe it isn't the same of others, nor the true one.

I might have many various theories on this, though not really going to type them there and just going to say that i think that 'reality' is not as true and 'real' as most of people think about, there are many possibilities of what can be 'behind reality' and so on. So yeah, we feel quite similar.

I'm a fan of "perception is reality" so reality isn't really definable. Books and books could be (and have been) written on this, but for the sake of everyday life it's what's around you and the combination of the other people in your lives that makes your reality as you see it.

Quantum Physics My Friend We Probably Wont be able to Discover this in our life time Children's lifetime or even Grand children's life Time. But one Theory Suggests That Our Whole Universe Is just One conscious Mind. Weird But quantum Physics Has a logical approach to. The Universe Has a begging About 13.5 Billion years ago. The Earth is predicted to Have a Mass Extinction Event within The next ten Million Years. And Is set to be Destroyed with The sun In about 7 Billion Years scary hey. But whats weirder Is The Universe Ending is predicted for 16 billion Years. This creates The Questions Of Were there past universes. Or even Paralleled Universes That Live along the Same time period as Us. The Schrödinger's cat Theory explains that really Good. You should Look into It really interesting and quite Frankly what got me Onto Lucid Dreaming But one Day or another We will Understand To reality For now. But for me Makes it easier If I see reality as anything That Is living Animals and plants Are Reality to me. Unless Some massive Breakthrough comes in. But only Way that Can be Discovered Is If we Find A thing that is Physical That can travel faster than light. And making Humans live longer to discover And study the Other Galaxy's in Our Universe in our Lifetime But that Is highly Doubtful.

If reality is what our sense perceive, then how can anything we perceive not be real? In that case, dreams are real, the products of our imaginations are real, and nothing exists which isn't real. Only things beyond perception (if there are such things could be said to be 'unreal.'

Its really simple, reality is that which is real. Wether it is an idealogy or physical things.

What is real? How can you describe "real"? What is real for one person may not be real to another...

I've often questioned reality after experiencing lucid dreams. In the dream everything feels real, so how can this life be "real" and that one "not real" if they both feel real when they're happening? So I guess I'm one of those that believe that reality is what you believe it is in the moment. What if you never woke up from a lucid dream? It would stay real wouldn't it? It only stops being real after you wake up from it. Everything you feel, the grass/objects you encounter/wind on your skin/people you touch, everything you see is full of color and dimension, all of your emotions are present, you can feel pleasure and pain, you can read words, you can even daydream, ect... So what is "real?" I don't know that any definition will satisfy me.
