Dreaming gives you extra life time

      Hi everyone,

Dreaming gives you extra life time because while you are dreaming a life, others are quietly sleeping. So it is nice to know that we have the extra life moment in our night time.

I have sometimes wondered how long it is possible for a lucid dream to go on, and if some experiment could be done to show that time within dreams is dilated. Let's say an LD feels like it goes on for years. What could one do within this time? Could someone read entire books, build complex things, or learn a foreign language perhaps within this time? If it was possible, would this then demonstrate that time can be dilated within LDs? And then how would that explain how one is capable of such accomplishments in such a short actual elapsed time, say minutes to several hours. If someone could learn a language for instance within an LD that felt like it was taking a year or so...then how is it explainable? That dreams take place outside of the brain and/or known space-time? (I'm sure plenty here already suspect such a thing...)

I'm not sure how someone would read a book or learn a language inside a dream. It's learning something new or getting new information that's the problem. Dreams seem like an amazing place to review things you already know and work out problems, or be creative and think up new works of art or start to work on a piece of writing, but there's no way to read an actual book in a dream unless it's something you have already read or something that your subconscious is creating on the spot. I'd definitely like to be able to have longer LDs so that I could use the time to practice meditation or even some physical skill, like the martial arts training room in the Matrix.

Or, you could learn a whole language and then forget your dream. DERP!

I would love to have longer lucid dreams, but the downside I see is that I wouldn't be able to remember much from those dreams except the last few minutes. I usually only remember the last few minutes of normal dreams, and because my lucid dreams only last several minutes, I am able to remember the whole thing right now. Since I'm able to remember most of what has happened in a dream while I'm still dreaming, maybe I should try to do a dream review when I feel like a dream is about to end and run through all the things I've done so far, so that it is fresh in my memory when I wake up.

Not necessarily. It's just your perception of time that is different. Like when you're in class it looks time goes by much slower than when you're out having fun.
For you to read a book or learn a language inside a dream, you'd have to have already read/learnt it in the waking world though.

But I guess there's already plenty of discussion on this topic in this forum, anyway.
