      Losing motivation, need recommendations

As the title says I'm losing motivation and need recommendations as to what to do surpass this plateau. I've had one random DILD a long time ago when I first started this lucid dreaming endeavor and I had success once with FILD.

-I do about 10ish reality checks a day.
-average dreams recorded per night is about 1.5.
-I do mantras and visualizations before bed almost every night but all it does is boost my recall a bit.

The FILD worked once, the first time I tried it, and it seemed to be with perfect conditions. I woke up and relaxed for about 3 minutes on my left side, which I never fall asleep on, then felt extremely tired and on the brink of sleep and rolled to my right side, the side I always sleep on, and did the FILD. I immediately felt a wave a of "transformation" of my mental state and after about a minute of FILDing I was in a dream(reality check tested). Since then I've tried FILD at least ten times but have yet to have it work or feel even close. It either takes me too long to fall asleep(30 minutes+) and my thoughts drift off or I just fall asleep. Finding that brink-of-sleep hot spot isn't that easy for me. I've tampered with SSILD, WILD, ADA and the DreamZ app but with no success. My awareness in general sucks but I've been working on it though it doesn't feel like it's doing much.

Problem #1: WILD scares the shit out of me. Every time I try it I keep thinking about SP and I get freaked out and stop, or the strange sensations from not moving for so long freak me out and I stop.

Problem #2: I share my bed with my girlfriend and she has trouble sleeping so it's understandable that she doesn't prefer me to do WBTB too often since it wakes her up too and she can't go back to sleep.

What do you guys recommend I try?

      1. You don't need SP to WILD.
      2. Join DV Academy class for a refresher course
      3. If you don't want WILD or WBTB, concentrate on DILD

      Good luck

I recommend doing mini WBTB and not using an alarm. (if you need help with this, just ask)

This is a thread I made to encourage people to lucid dream! Feel free to add more to it.

Like Gab said, you don't need SP to WILD. Here are some threads to talk about it.

this one has some good responses about SP.

This one is everything DV has for SP^^^ highly recommended.

Hope this helps. I know I just posted a lot of things to read, but reading really is a big part of learning, especially for LDing.

Thanks I'll get to work on that. I agree reading is important. I've already read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming and have spent quite a few hours lurking this forum.

Yeah, reading ETWOLD is pretty much a must. If you don't, I feel like you would have to read a lot longer to get the same info, since books are in good order, especially that one.

Good luck on LDs! If you need anything else, this forum is the place to look and ask for things. lurking is good.
