      Keep missing signs

I keeps missing very obvious signs!

Last night there was large wording in my dream saying 'lucid' and I even asked what it meant in my dream but didn't even think it was weird that pods were coming from the sky!

This is the 2nd time I've totally disregarded the word 'lucid' in a dream.

How can I become more aware?

I completely know the feeling. The worst feeling is that the closer I get to lucid, the more "aware" I am the next morning that I missed dream signs. My most recent failings as of late have been seeing odd reflections in a mirror and not making the connection that I look strange.

Are you practicing all day awareness? Most of the dream guides here will tell you that ADA is just as important as recall and for me it has also helped with adding realism to my reality checks as well as increased recall vividness.

Sorry, what's ADA ? I think it's good that you remember having sign in your dream. Knowledge of that is first step to recognise more sign in the future. Take your time, be patient, you will be able recognise more of that in the future, belive me.

ADA is All Day Awareness. I think it was started/forwarded in Steven LaBerge's book. You can search the tutorials as there are many different ways to go about it. The way I do it, I copied a list of about 100 different "tasks"or "targets". Things such as; every time you hear somebody talk about the weather, whenever you see a red car, etc. I pick 3 of these everyday. I meditate for a couple of minutes and try to envision when I might encounter each target. Then as the day progresses, every time I see a target, I really think to myself, I could be dreaming. I remind myself how real a dream feels and then I check that with a RC. It was hard to do at first and for a while I kept missing targets, akin to missing dream signs. In about a month, I found that I tended to hit targets and that has raised my awareness. It hasn't transfered over to lucid dreams yet, but I have seen a dramatic increase in recall and vividness. My dreams also seem a lot less chaotic. I'm hoping that it isn't much longer till this translates into more awareness in dreams, having taught myself to recognize targets.

Hope that helps. It has for me. Do a search through the tutorials, you'll see other renditions of it. This is the way that has seemed to help me.

When you miss a dream sign, take it as a lesson rather than failure. Imagine yourself back in the dream and replay the event. Notice the dream sign in your imagination and think "what would I have done if I become lucid?" Then play out the rest of the dream in a different way: becoming lucid, exploring the environment and accomplishing your goals. You need to practice not only to recognize the dream sign, but also to react to it and take action based on it.

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Yes, daytime awareness increases your awareness in your dreams and helps you to take notice of obvious signs, such as one you saw (LUCID). Or it helps you notice something strange, or just gives you a moment of awareness, which gives you an urge to RC and gets you lucid.

Our dreams are pretty crazy and we should notice that and get lucid, but without awareness, we take them as normal.

IN my case NEVER a dream sign has caused me to become lucid. It does not matter how many times I have been experiencing similar situacion in my dream, I do not become lucid. My lucid dreams count now is 82 ( I do no count those cases in which I have 3 lucid dreams in a row, in those cases I consider that I had just one LD) and in every case I new that I was lucid from de beginning without any obvious DS or RC..
