      Did that just happen?

So, when I went to sleep last night, I decided I would stay VERY STILL as I went to sleep. I did, and I felt my body getting heavy, but I just ended up falling asleep.

Anyway, I started dreaming as normal, but in the middle of the dream, something cool happened. Suddenly, I was standing in front of a mirror, and I could actually see myself properly! (apparently mirrors don't normally work in dreams) I was looking at myself in the mirror, and I just remember saying something along these lines:

      "I'm dreaming. I'm having a lucid dream. I'm lucid. I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming."

What's really cool is how life-like and vivid it was. It's the part of that dream I remember the most, but I still can't remember if I was actually lucid.
Also, I made my first post on this site last night and browsed around, too, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, just wanted to post this 'cause I thought it was interesting.

      Welcome to the forums!
Did you try any other reality checks? You could have been sleepwalking and woke up a bit in front of a mirror... any way that is possible?

No, I just sort of stood there and told myself I was dreaming. And I guess it is possible I was sleepwalking, however unlikely. I am also pretty sure I was wearing a different shirt... I'm so confused.

      Yo.
Did you actually knew at that moment that you were in dream? From your description it sounds like you did but then lost lucidity right after, and even if you did not, you were really close, so congrats!
Mirrors can work properly in dreams, It really based on one's expectation and dream's stability. Also it sounds like you were trying to WILD when going to bed, which is generally a bad idea unless you are really lucky or talented. It's better to do WILD as WBTB or DEILD after sleep or during a nap, check out this tutorial for more information: WILD also you don't have to stay very still.
Also i don't think what Aliasmk says is possible, if one's to have that disorder and to wake up during an episode of it, one would knew that he woke up and be shocked and/or confused, and in fact, sleepwalking makes it harder to recall memories, not easier.

Hey nice job so early Jacob, seems you were really close to a lucid dream! Just remember to do reality checks daily so it becomes a habit and goes to the dreams. It's really weird that sometimes you just think and say to yourself: "This is dream and I know that I'm dreaming" but you wont get lucidity, that has happened to me several times also probably because I forgot to do reality check right at that moment.
