Not many of my LDs are that realistic. But when they are, I do pause to RC before jumping off things. |

I just had an LD last night and have experienced this problem over several times. I am curious if others have experienced this. I became lucid while driving my car down the highway at maybe 70 miles per hr. Now, I knew it was a dream, but it "felt" real enough that I wanted to stabilize rubbing my hands but certainly didnt feel like pulling my hands off the wheel, or taking my eyes off the road. I wasnt just partially lucid...I was in full control but felt like I would at least wreck in my dream, which didnt seem pleasant, and would probably wake up. Another time I became lucid clinging on a cliff edge. I have a fear of heights...it was pretty paralizing even knowing its a dream, as it doesnt really "feel" like a dream but feels real. I just looked around snd soon awoke. I suppose there is always a small voice in the background saying "what if this isn't a dream?". Anyone have to deal with this in their dreams? |

Yup, lucid dreams can be very vivid, and it's amazing. |

I dont think I wake up due to fear.. I just am somewhat afraid to do something that in real life would be dangerous. For example I fly lots of times, but starting at ground level. Becoming lucid on a cliff high up, I would be afraid to leap off though. In a car I am afraid to spin as I am rushing down the highway at 70. I am cautious by nature...maybe that is a block for me. |

Ok, try to think about those potential situations during day. Think about, how much fun it would be in a dream, when you know you will be safe, to try some crazy stuff you can't do in waking life. |

it took me awhile to get used to flying at high altitudes, even taking off and realizing im getting higher and higher |

Thanks..will try planning ahead, Gab. Maybe I can get a mindset so that I dont fear what I know cant hurt me. |

In a lucid dream you are still limited by your fears and your expectations etc., just because you are aware it is a dream does not cause all of those to disappear. Just know that if you want to you can work on overcoming those fears and changing expectations. However, you only do that if and when you are ready and want to. It is perfectly ok not to want to wreck a car going at 70 miles an hour even in a lucid dream. Remember it is your dream, and you only need to be in control of it if you want it, and it is ok to just go with the dream logic if that is your choice whether for rational reasons or due to irrational emotions or expectations - it's all ok in your dream, as long as you are ok with it. |
