      LD difficulties

      I'm new to DV.
I've had 3 very strange and powerful dreaming experiences over the past few years (I'm in my early 20s).
I thought it would be great to get some opinions from the DV community, so I created an account.
First, on this post I'll explain the difficulties I've been having with LD.

      My LDs have these characteristics:
      > I become aware that I'm in a dream (usually when a lightswitch fails to operate correctly)
      > Foggy visuals; time doesn't pass uniformly. I have the ability to levitate.
      > I have to move carefully, and concentrate on the location I'm in, or I'll wake up.
      > If I look at certain things, I'll wake up.

It's very frustrating; I have been interested in LDs for years, but all of my LDs have the features above.
My dream always feels fragile, and I am always struggling to maintain the dream, so I cannot enjoy the experience.

      Any input is appreciated

      Congrats on lucid dreams!
Sounds like your awareness is low and your dreams destabilize easily. Are you doing reality checks in waking life? Reality checks help with training awareness, do them, and do them not only as mechanical action. Before doing reality check, look around and completely believe than you might be dreaming, then put emotions into it like 'Wow, am i dreaming?', and then do reality check itself, while doing it completely expect it to work and show you that you are dreaming. Check out this thread as well: http://www.dreamviews.com/dild/13212...ods-dilds.html
As for stability, try engaging all your senses in dream, like not only looking around but trying to feel objects, smells, try to lick and taste something and hear something, there's tutorial with few other techniques that can help with that: Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views , i use rubbing hands technique for stabilization.
By the way do you have a dream journal? If not, start one and write/type your dreams in it, it not only helps with recall but also mentally sets you into dreaming mood thus increasing chance for lucid dreams generally.

Wow, I'm glad I posted here. Your information helps me immensely.
I though unstable LDs were my own issue. I didn't realize there were techniques to overcome this.
I will take your advice, and study the links. I am especially excited about trying the 'rubbing hands' technique.
      Thanks so much

Yeah something I've been using the last couple of weeks is as well as rubbing your hands together, also rub them around your body a bit as well!
Seems to just give that little bit of extra stabilisation.

If you only have the skills to do so you can experience anything you can imagine as real.
