      Unintentionally starting to WILD?

I don't know if it was, or if I'm even calling it the right thing - still new to all the terminology, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway! I woke in the night (a few nights ago now... I'm so slow posting this!) at about 4:15. (I'm diabetic, so I wake sometimes with a low blood sugar level and have to get up to have something to eat.) I went downstairs for some snacks to bring my sugar level back up and, when I lay back down, I sort of remembered about WILDing and thought it might be a good time to give it a try. (I don't know if it was, but it seemed like a good idea at the time!)
I was lying in bed, relaxing and counting and trying to imagine things and make tactile connections to the images. I was doing pretty well with that, and I think I was sort of in a dream but not quite - it felt real, but at the same time I kind of felt like I was still in bed. I didn't get any further though, because I heard two distinct screams, one after another; identical in pitch, volume and length. It freaked me out, and I woke up then (or came around properly... still not sure if I was asleep or not...)

Might I have been starting to do something in the general WILD direction?

Yeah. I would say you are on the right track. I attempted WILD about a week ago and I got too excited because of a noise I heard two times.

You're on the right track! Just try to stay calm through the HH until it ends, then you could go on with the dream. Gaining experience helps with that.

Yes, you're definietly on the right track for a WILD.

For me it also often happens unintentionally, mostly when I start to recall dreams in the morning after I woke up, then often don't move but concentrate solely on recalling the images, and suddenly I notice that I slipped in a state where I can't move anymore, starting to hear weird noises, weird buzzing that feels like it is coming from the back of my head (that is the most scary for me).. and more often than not also voices that start to talk.

It is very hard for me to stay calm through it, and until now every time I aborted and tried as hard as possible to move my body to stop it. But I hope that I become more used to it so that the angst goes away and I will be able to use these unintentionally WILDs to enter a dream lucid.

Wicked! Thanks, guys! I'll keep working on it, though I hope I don't have to have a low blood sugar level every time I want to WILD! Hmm... perhaps it just woke me before a REM cycle...?
