Question Can I stay up late and still lucid dream?

As its the 6 weeks holiday, I tend to stay up till about 3am unless I'm really tired, my question is can I still lucid dream if I stay up till late, also I would normally wake up at about 11am if I stay up that late.

Sheldon: No, the X-men were named for the X in Charles Xavier. Since I am Sheldon Cooper, you will be, my C-men.

its best to have some sort of routine with lucid dreaming. changing your sleep cycle so dramatically will only cause problems. try and be consistent. it is, of course, certainly possible to have one like this, but i wouldn't reckon much for your chances.

For me, it's no problem if I stay up late and THEN dream. For example, my last Lucid Dream (and the longest one) happened when I went to sleep at about 3 AM. But for you, it might be different - although for me they happen mostly when I stay up late for some reason.

Just remember that everyone's brain is different. splodeymissile is right in that changing your sleep cycle like you plan on doing isn't the best move for your lucidity; however, you might find--like VashtaNerada--that your chances of having a lucid dream are greatly multiplied if you stay up late.

If I were you I would treat this as an experiment of sorts, since there's no guarantee how your lucidity will be affected by staying up later. Just make sure that you remain consistent (e.g., going to bed at three in the morning and waking up at ten) that way if you discover anything about how your brain works you can back up that knowledge because you had other days with the same sleep schedule. You might also find that you can apply whatever you learn to when the holiday is over.

Routine is what matters, getting a decent amount of sleep every night, making sure you aren't exhausted as you go to sleep. If you have a routine of going to bed late and you are not too tired when you do, then there should be no problem. Just remember to be consistent in your sleeping pattern.
