Books dealing with Meditation+Dreaming[Getting into the present moment] ADA?

What's up guys! My apologies if this is not where this should be posted. Please feel free to move it.

I'am here to ask does anyone know of the books I should pick up dealing with Meditation & Dreams. I hear a lot of people saying Meditation helps with being present and aware. So I was wondering what book is great for dealing with both of them.

Good idea, I wouldn't mind some recommendations either. I've done meditation for quite some times but never properly. I'd like to try some of the old techniques.

      I have a small pile ( Not a medical problem )
Will dig them out, and put the titles on here.
Not one for long winded, 300 page crap though. The best books are often short, and to the point.
      Back soon.

You should try the master of dreaming
JOURNEYS OUT OF THE BODY - Robert A Monroe

Need something a little more up to date? Read
PROOF OF HEAVEN - Dr Eben Alexander

      Want to watch a movie
      DREAMSCAPE - 1984 Dennis quaid
      WAKING LIFE - 2001
WHAT DREAMS MAY COME - 1998 - Robin Williams
      BRAINSTORM - 1983 - Christopher Walken
Then there are the Matrix movies, but these are just a little too futuristic. Good fun though.

Movies on my "To Watch" list
      Wake Up! - 2009
      Inception - 2010

      TV Series
      Perception
Through the wormhole. Season 3and 4

Lots more stuff in my brain, but it needs to be teased out, over a period of time.

We have a class in our DV Academy, dealing with Dream Yoga. Dream Yoga

Check it out. Sivason is very skilled on the subject and will be happy to answer your questions. He also mentions the book Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep.

I Strongly recommend; The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead - by Timothy Leary among others.

More on the meditation side, but i believe this book is very relevant and definitely crosses into the anything can happen realm of dreams as it discusses hallucinations.

DMT, a compound found almost everywhere in nature.
High concentrations in a few plants. Mimosa Pudica for example
Very high concentrations in psilocybe cubensis. ( illegal in some countries )
Taken in the right setting, dose, and right mind set, will have you talking to other worldly entities.
Very interesting way to explore the hidden realms, but only for the most stable of people.

The book is "Food of the Gods", a non-fiction book by Terence McKenna.
Now that man can talk !
You should Google his talks, that is , if the book is difficult to acquire.

There are two styles of Buddhist meditation that are similar to what we call ADA. From Tibetan Buddhism, there is "vipassana" which is usually translated as "mindfulness". (however, sometimes the word "mindful" is used in a different context of Buddhism to mean something like "ethical" or "proper") From Zen Buddhism, there is "shikantaza" which translates as "just sitting". The Tibetan style is closer to what you're looking for, but Zen has some interesting points for contrast. You can search for any of those terms and find many books on those subjects. I can recommend a few:

      - Mindfulness in Plain English by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana. A practical introduction to Tibetan style meditation. It is written specifically for beginners and for a Western audience.
      - Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki. A collection of lectures from a Zen master, mixing practical application with philosophy.
      - The Tibetan Yogas Of Dream And Sleep. A description of Tibetan beliefs and techniques related to sleep and lucid dreaming. This is less accessible to a Western audience because it makes many references to Tibetan mysticism and the supernatural. But it's still very interesting and practical.
      - Sleeping, Dreaming, and Dying. This is a transcript of a series of meetings between the Dalai Lama and a group of Western scientists where they compare Eastern and Western beliefs and science on the topics of sleep, dreams (including lucid dreaming), and death. This is a very interesting read, though perhaps not very practical.

Also, here's a nice video lecture by Jon Kabat-Zinn. It's a good watch. Jon Kabat-Zinn is an American doctor who takes a pratcial Western approach to mindfulness and has some books in addition to his lectures.

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
