Does lucid dreaming just mean that you can take control in your dreams? Does it have to be vivid?

And if not, how can I not be afraid to lucid dream? I watched some BBC documentary on dreaming and wonder how can I lucid dream without being scared.
I heard that some people can't wake up from their lucid dreams or feel like it's too much like reality?

Lucid dreaming simply means that you are aware you are dreaming while in the dream. Once you are lucid you can learn to control the dream but lucidity and dream control are two different things. Like any other dreams, a lucid one can vary on vividness. Once people realize they are dream, it tends to become a little more vivid. It just depends on the dream/person.

Also those are just myths! Everyone wakes up from lucid dreams. You can't get trapped in one. Yeah, it can feel like reality but the majority of people can easily tell the difference between a dream and reality unless they are mentally unstable.

Lucid dreaming isn't something you should be afraid of. It opens up a whole new world where you can do anything. It has a bunch of benefits. Just look around this site and read through peoples journals/posts. You'll realize it's not something to fear. Anyway, hopefully that answered your questions. If you have any more just shoot me a message!

Lucid Dreaming technically means any Dream in which you are aware you are Dreaming. You don't have to take control of anything within the Dream for it to be a Lucid. Taking control is an effect of becoming Lucid. You actually have control any time you Dream, but it is mainly your subconscious that is doing it.

I'm not sure where you heard that people become trapped in their Dreams after becoming Lucid, but I can assure you that doesn't happen. In fact, many of us strive for ways to make our Lucid Dreams last longer and come more often. The fact is that any Dream can feel like the Waking world, but when it is a Lucid Dream you can make the Deam whatever you want.

Becoming Lucid is one of the most exhilarating feelings I've ever experienced. To realize that you are in a realm all your own is fascinating. You can literally do anything you can imagine. Do no be afraid to discover this fantastic method of Dreaming. It is something you will never forget, and in my opinion, something you can never get enough of.

      Good luck
      I Dreamed a Dream
In it, saw people I've never seen
      Gone places I've never been
And done things I'd do again.

When you say that you have heard that some people can't wake up from lucid dream, do you mean like what the others assumed (that people get trapped in lucid dream) in which case that indeed cannot happen, or do you mean that people may not be able to immediately wake up when they want to? If it is the later, that might happen, although many people can wake themselves up on purpose whenever they want, but most people do not want to wake up earlier than the natural end of their dream when lucid - quite the opposite, most of us wake up from a lucid dream wishing it had been longer because lucid dreams are fun and empowering. Remember a lucid dream is just a dream in which you are aware enough to know that this is a dream. If you are more aware, you might also realize that since it is a dream, nothing can hurt you, and you should be able to control it.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

Lucid dreaming is only knowing you're dreaming, control is a deeper layer of lucidity. Also you have to hype yourself up for lucid dreaming. You can't have negative thoughts about it. Plus it's super easy to get hyped for lucid dreaming because its awesome and so much fun. AND it's your dream so you can control whatever happens. FACE THOSE FEARS . Have fun !

I know I had concerns at first...fear of scary stuff I imagined could happen....now I know from experience that its one of the most amazing things one can experience and thankfully I pushed aside the fears and tried it. Wow! Dont miss the opportunity! Remember, we all dream regardless...might as well know its a dream and experience it in live 3D.
