Strange things happening in my dream?

      Hi all

First off, I am not an advanced lucid dreamer, and I don't have much control when I do get a lucid dream. But anyways, this has happened to me 2 times already:

Last night, I suddenly realized that I am in a dream and so I decided to tell everyone about it. I was in a room with 4 other people, and then I shouted "I am dreaming right now!". Everybody stopped doing what they were doing and began staring at me. They would then turn into kinda like "half-zombies" who would then get up and start walking towards me. I then shouted "I am just kidding", and so they all returned to their normal state.

I repeated this 3 times, and each time I got the same result. I then started to argue with one of them, telling them that "they are in a dream too, and so they should wake up as well", but it never worked, as they just tried to persuade me that I was wrong.

Unfortunately, my arguing lasted so long so that I my dream ended and I woke up (:

Has anything ever happened to any of you like this before? Have the subjects in your dreams ever tried to persuade you that you are not dreaming ? Have they ever threatened you in your lucid dream?

If you're looking for a dream interpretation, then my guess would be that there are two aspects in your personality/life that contradict each other. Really, all you were doing was arguing with yourself. If you remember any sort of result, it could be of some use. For me, these dreams are common. If you were actually lucid dreaming and not dreaming about lucid dreaming, then I doubt you're controlling the dream, you're simply aware that you are dreaming and are sort of just spectating the dream with more consciousness. You can learn how to control lucid dreams, but don't get the wrong idea - this was indeed a lucid dream if you were aware of the fact that you were dreaming.

Even if you don't think you control the dream, dream usually responds to your thoughts and beliefs. Maybe you were worried what wil they do on subconsious level.

But yes, I have heard from others, that when you tell your DCs you are dreaming, they may try to sabotage you and convince you, that you are not, or otherwise act wierd.

Sounds like my early experienced. I remember at least a couple of those situations. I achieve lucidity and shout to my friend R. "Look at me I'm dreaming, this is a dream this is not a real world". My dream characters always are confused or try to convince me that I'm wrong. I wonder if it's some kind of subconsciousness defense mechanism against lucid dreams because they're unnatural to us (to most at least).

I just remembered, that on one occasion, I told a DC of my aunt, that If this was a dream, I would float up. As I said this, i started floating up, realized I'm dreaming and I saw my aunt have a huge amuzed smile. She didn't try to interfere or anything. I guess I expected that, and that's why that happened.

Yeah, DCs can be strange beings indeed I wouldn't read into a lot if I were you, strange reactions are quite normal from your Dream Characters. Check out this thread for some more absurdities!
