      Side effects of LD

Hello folks. I've been into LD lately and I've been enjoying this ever since as I could do a hell lotta things that I can only imagine in my real life. These days, I'm getting some side effects of LD. My real life has become boring. In short I'm not very happy with what I do and there's still almost a year till I can do what I love to do.

So my dreams are really very important for me and I love them, no matter how scary they are. With most of them Lucid, I can do what I love to do only in my dreams. But I need to sleep in order to dream.
My time is so limited that I only get to sleep for 6 hours. The problem is, it has started to happen that, once I wake up, I choose to go back to sleep and neglect other things for which I must wake up. I've started sleeping for 15 or 20 hours straight and miss my shift. Though I definitely love to dream but I am concerned with my real life that's taking a hit.

I also want to know if I could use LD to resolve my real life issues like planning and thinking over some issues to resolve them.

Your replies will be much appreciated.

You should never let dreams come in the way of your everyday life. Dreams are largely dependent on the circumstances present in your waking life, it is in your own best interest not to miss work. I know it is hard to resist and addiction, especially lucid dreaming but you must persevere. There is much you can do in the six hours of sleep you get, it isn't truly enough but if it means that you can secure a solid future then by all means focus on that.
Falling to dreams will lead to depression, you need to maintain joy in real life too. The way I see it is that dreams provide an extra experience to real life, they don't replace it, they just give me some time each day to have some fun.
I'm not sure how exactly to convince you, but I think you should try as hard as you can to keep your normal life running properly, you will not regret it later.

You definitely can do a lot of thinking in lucid dreams, depends on what are you life issues but i think you can always find an alternative solution in your lucid dream.

I cannot say about everybody, but my opinion is that if you are an advanced lucid dreamer and you have a good imagination you will create a world and events that will be thousand times better then real life. At some point in my life i was waiting night more then day, my dreams were much more interesting then my real life. You might think that i have a poor and boring life but no, i have a very interesting life, lots of friends and family. However worlds that you find in your dream and feelings that you bring from there are something different, something that you will never find in this life.

Once again i will say that Lucid Dreaming is a very good way to find answer on your questions!

I think now is the time to start taking the next step: realize that you can take control of waking life as well, granted it may seem like you have much less control than in dreams, but you can have much more control than you realize. You can control your expectations. You can control how content you are. You can control your emotions and thoughts and how you react to the world around you. If you do not like your reactions now, change them. Become content. Become interested. Become happy. Do not wait until the year has passed. Your contentment level can be much higher than it is now, and you can control yourself. Use some of the same techniques that lucid dreaming teaches us, but apply them to change your attitude in waking life.

I have often heard the saying: "Live is only 10% what you experience and 90% how you react to it." So as far as I experienced this that is totally true. As you said yourself, you have one year left untill you can do the things that you love. One might say "oh dear... 1 year. that's ages. I will never make it" and the other one might say "oh yes, I so can't wait. I'll just be tough for now and look forward to the future!"... You choose who of those you want to be.
      Your attitude makes the difference

I don't think this is side effects of Lucid Dreaming, this is side effects of your own attitude towards life. I get it, you're bored, but you can't let your dreams take over your life. You can't sleep all of the time, this could lead to depression, and it's all downhill from there really. You have to take responsibility for yourself, go out and get things done, move towards doing what you really love in the next year, whatever you can do. You are in control of yourself, don't use lucid dreaming as an excuse.

Yes, you can create incredible worlds and experience incredible things, but I still don't think it beats the real world. It can't beat the real world. The only way it could beat the real world was if it had everybody that I loved, all the happy moments, all the sad moments, all the times I've been angry, all the times I've been excited, and everything else on top of that, and it just doesn't. It never will. Not without my controlling it to be so. Life is full of effort, and yet it's also effortless. You can't let yourself be spoiled by your dreams, because this world is beautiful and amazing, and the inspiration for your dreams. Without real life, your dreams would be really damn boring. So go out, experience new things, do things with other people and make memories, because if you don't, you won't have anything to dream about anymore.

the world is not beautiful and amazing for most of humans and most of the time they don't choose their bad situation.Tell all this to the thousands of people that are beaten, killed, tortured, dissapointed, diseased or just suffering. Some of us just afford the luxury of having a stable home, internet and some obscure hobby like lucid dreaming."Experiencing things" just for the sake of it is lifeless, forced and waste of time, tell the thousands of indian hungered kids forced into labour to make beautiful memories.
Every experience of life is equal to another, you are and will be your own judge for what you did right or good. There is no plus you get in the afterlife for doing some shit on an arbitrary lists invented by guys with too much time and good in their life.
OP all I can say is that just try to use your time on earth as good as you can, you will literally have eternity after you die.Do your job, call our parents from time to time, read a book, try a musical instrument, go for running, meditate. It's obvious you consider it a issue if you posted it here

Thanks Gattaca for such a warm reply. I am working hard to make my real life good and rewarding. Was I wrong in taking my dreams seriously?

Thank you very much. You made sense and I followed your advice. Now I feel and am better. Was I so wrong in taking my dreams seriously?
