I need some advice! Please read!

Im going to try and have a lucid dream tonight for the third time in a row! (the other times didnt work so i really want to have my first one!)
Im going to use FILD but i need some help, like what time do i set my alarm and some mantras, that type of thing!
Or any other suggested methods good for beginners, thanks!

You sound very excited. I'm speaking from experience here - this might be a problem for you and the reason why it's not working. Try to calm down, think about something else.
About FILD - I've never used it, I don't think this is the best technique anyway. Maybe try DEILD it's really easy and got me about 50 % of my lucid dreams.

It could. Expect that it will, but remember that induction is almost never guaranteed.

I recommend not to set the alarm, but try to do FILD when you awake naturally (all people do it a few times at night). Good luck!

Use mantras as you are falling asleep and throughout the day at random intervals. Maybe only do a repetition cycle of mantras (just repeat it a bunch of times, paying attention to the intention of the mantra) once during the day, and then as you are falling asleep to make it the last thought you have before you sleep.

As for setting an alarm, you can either choose not to as others have said, or you can use your REM cycles to set one. They happen at the end of every 90 minute sleep cycle, and grow longer the longer you sleep. I would recommend setting one 4.5-6 hours after sleeping. It will take some experimentation to find the correct timing to wake yourself up, since everybody is different, but when you do it will be a lot easier

The key is don't give up and try not to get discouraged when you don't become lucid. It took me quite a while to have my first one and after that they get easier. Just keep trying and if one method doesn't work after a few times, try another and come back to the first one later. Everyone is different.

DEILD is a little bit difficult to accomplish. Do you know about all of the techniques? there is WILD, DILD, DEILD (obviously), FILD (kinda new), MILD,
and there is WBTB, which is more of a technique enhancer, and something that is almost required for a WILD. Anyways,
MILD and WILD are the easiest in my opinion, And i usually use DILD as a backup. I recommend doing reality checks, or ADA. or both. (ADA is All Day Awareness. There
is a tutorial on the site). If you can't keep doing Reality Checks, or ADA, Then try setting an hourly alarm on your phone, or set an hourly timer on your watch or alarm clock. Whatever you can to do remind yourself. It helps with DILDs and, well everything else. But mainly DILDs.
"dude. WBTB, is magical." -rudedudeowns, DV. Yes, WBTB is quite an extraordinary way to get lucid dreams. It isn't mainly required,
but it helps ALOT. especially if you do reality checks in the process of it. I could go on about these things, but i just suggest you look at the user tutorials on the site. (click on Wiki at the top.) And if you aren't getting any replys to your threads, don't worry. there is a chat feature at the top aswell. I just suggest doing reality checks and WBTB. They are both really great. Good luck! -Tradl3s

An example of how we are all different. WILD/WBTB is insanely difficult for me, but I had some results with MILD and good results with a combination of ADA and reality checks. Worth noting that ADA by itself increased my dream clarity and vividness during the time I used it.

Also something worth looking at (I don't mean to "advertise", I hope this is okay) there's an app for android called Awoken that allows you to have a set number of configurable notifications to remind you to do reality checks during the day, and gives you a set number of nighttime notifications designed to trigger you into doing a reality check inside your dream. I just started trying it out yesterday to help pull me out of my dry spell, no results yet but too early to tell. It also has a built in dream journal with a reminder to write in it, but I don't really like that part and I use a different app for journaling.

Of course everyone's different. If we weren't, we would all be having lucids easily.

Certainly. Why does anything worth doing have to require so much work
