How many times did it take for you to have a lucid dream?

As the title suggests, how many times roughly does it take for someone to have a successful lucid dream? I've only had one lucid dream which was a false awakening, I remember clearly waking up, having a shower for work and then actually waking up to find myself in bed.

I was not even aware of lucid dreaming until recently, so figured I should join. The idea of doing anything in your dream and being fully aware is crazy! I tried to do a WILD last night and the night before.

It can take weeks or even months to have your first LD on purpose. In my experience though, it gets much easier once you've actually had your first one

The answer depends on your luck, your dedication, your expectations, your age probably (I think it may be easier for younger people including kids) - your chemical balance and hormones, how quickly you figure out which method is the right one for you, and other factors. LDing in very individual, and some people become successful quickly while others need to keep at it for a long time before succeeding. However, I do believe that anyone can do it. And some people are lucky enough that it does not take a lot of effort for them - I am not one of them, but I make up for that with dedication.

What JoannaB said. For me, it took a solid month of total dedication and daytime effort, journaling, dream recall, MILD, to get my first LD. My second LD came one week after the first. Still working on the third DILD (irregular sleep schedule threw me off for a week) . I also am not a "natural," and am middle-aged, but I think my success in dream recall and in my first LDs shows that "slow and steady wins the race." Never give up! Never surrender!

I still have not had a lucid dream on purpose, but I have had lucid dreams where I have gained control, and controlled the situation until I woke up.

Not to thread jack, but if anyone would like to share, has anyone had morbid Lucid Dreams?
