      False Awakenings after WBTB

Hello. So I've been trying the WBTB technique after 6 hours of sleep for different lengths, sometimes 10-15 minutes, other times for about half an hour. I leave my bedroom and desk lamps on and just read random things about lucid dreaming. I go back to sleep using meditation and/or MILD.
While I don't seem to have any LD's from it, I almost always have false awakenings, and often if I have plans for the next day I'll be actually thinking about them in my dream.

It is my understanding that WBTB is meant to wake up the mind and increase awareness during REM, but I still find I accept everything as completely normal. Last time I tried, I dreamt that I ended up catching the ferry to the shops, met three people I had never seen before in my life in weird clothes, four hours apparently passed in a few seconds, and my phone and wallet literally fell into tiny pieces in my hands but my phone was still ringing, and it never once occurred to me that I was dreaming (I was really relieved when I really woke up).

Could this be because I am not stimulating both sides of my brain enough, or not staying up long enough?

I would try to put more work into your mantras. Don't just use them during your WBTB, use them during the day. Also perform more reality checking. Specifically every time you wake up. That increases your chances of performing a reality check after your false awakening and using it to become lucid.

Ya my advice is do a reality check every night before bed and every morning waking up. Or every time u wake up to wbtb, once its a habit you'll do it in false awakenings.
