Not true...I have lucid dreams and I teach everything that I have learned to whoever I can.

In order to become a Dream Guide...you need to earn the title. Helping out new members with their questions, being an active participant on the forum, being extremely kind and helpful...etc. If a spot happens to open up on the Dream Guide Team, the admins and mods will attempt to find the most suitable person to fill the position.

Don't expect to join a forum and become a MOD right away...you have to earn your title through hard work and perseverance. And the jobs of Dream Guides is not as easy as you think it might be. There is alot of stuff that we do that never concerns the general community here at DV in order to keep things running smoothly. If you work hard for several months I'm sure anyone can someday achieve such a title.

edit: oh yeah, you need to be 18 to hold a staff position...and I believe you are what....14? correct? so you have awhile

Dream guides are not chosen solely on their knowledge or ability to lucid dream. The Dream Guide program was put into place in order to help welcome all of our new members and to get the up to speed with the layout and forum operation as quickly as possible.

Although a Dream guide often does teach others, the role of Dream Guide is not that of a teacher. The management does NOT officially recognize anyones knowledge or ability to lucid dream, it is a community effort. You have heard it "Takes a villiage to raise a child"? Same concept applies here, "I takes a community to develop a Lucid Dreamer". Everyone has something they are good at, it is up to the community at large to pitch in and help.

When selecting a Dream Guide, the management looks for the following qualities:

Friendliness - We want all of our new members to be greeted by friendly people. A candidate must exhibit friendliness. It is highly frowned upon when a new user is insulted or flamed when asking honest questions. remember, we all were beginners at one time.

Helpfulness - A candidate must demonstrate that they have been extremely helpful to others. We do notice when someone is here almost every day and is very active in the dreaming forums, especially in the new members and general sections. Activity in the lounge or sensless banter does not count.

Maturity - The candidate must demonstrate a high level of maturity. They should not be prone to fits of anger and should not sulk or pout. They should be level headed and know when to disengage from a difficult situation. They also must be mature enough to know when to ask for help.

Time on the forum - Six months minimum time on the forum is required before you will be considered for a dream guide position. If we have several candidates that demonstrate the same level of competence, the position will go to the one that has been here longest.

Age - 18 Years old. No exceptions. Current staff members under the age of 18 are grandfathered in.

Knowledge - Notice I listed this last. A Dream Guide should be knowledgeable of the concepts and practices of lucid dreaming. They do not have to be expert of even have great talent. A Dream Guide is expected to provide basic help to the newer members and to point them to others when asked a question they are unsure of or uncomfortable answering.

All Dream Guides are chosen by the staff, it is not a popularity contest. Being a Dream Guide is a huge responsibility and a lot is expected of them.

Wow, I've never heard that before. Makes me want to pm half the people here at DV and say "Raise Me Please" Really though that’s something to consider. We should be able to raise each other into a mature dreamer. That is what I'm here for.

Are we turning into a Bloody Kibbutz?????????. I never knew some DG's had no talent at all. Not trying to be rude but we could easily get all the info we need from other sites and become 'Self-Taught'.

Guys, I am afraid you are not fully understanding the role of the Dream Guide. I appologize, it was my idea to be cute and call them Dream Guides.

A Dream Guide here at Dream Views is a nice, helpful, friendly person who is responsible for helping new members get to know our forum and to help get them started on their way.

Our Dream Guides are knowledgeable about lucid dreaming, but you should not look to them exclusively for help in lucid dreaming. There are many members here with years of experience to offer you.
