control and lucidity, but somehow not.....

Ok, I had a really weird LD experience. I'm still fairly new at this, especially when it comes to control, so bear with me if this sounds stupid. In my dream, I became lucid right away, and began to exert some control. However, although I knew I was dreaming and had quite a lot of control, it was like I was completely oblivious to my real/waking self. Like the dream world (although I recognized it as a dream) was the only world. I gave absolutely no thought to the world outside, only to what I wanted to do in the dream. I notice that I do things in my dreams that I would be too afraid to do or just would not do in real life. I guess that borders on a morals type question, and I think that's one we have to figure out for ourselves, but my question today is, is this normal? To be lucid, aware that you are in a dream, but with no awareness of your true life?

What you experience is very normal.
It is possible to recall facts from real life, but they seem distant and meaningless. I think it's a good thing, as it allows you to have fun without the burden of RL problems.
At the same time it's quite easy to remember what you wanted to do in your next LD, so it doesnt inhibit whatever experiments or experiences you wanted to have.

If there were such a definition for the word "mindset" then now is the time to utilize it. There is a seperate "atmosphere" to say the least. Whatever is soscially acceptable in one instance may or may not be as impactful as anticipated in the other.

I agree with Ev. Dreams can be like an escape from reality where you aren't bothered by your real life problems. And is one of those things where your mind is only on the present and the world bends to your will

Is there a method or something of the sort that helps you remember or become "better connected" with the real world?
Whats better than complete freedom from laws, both judicial and physical?

the only thing that i can think of that's even close is probably doing the hypnosis thing in HILD to try and trick your mind. Also try to keep your life simple and plain i guess. Reading, watching, or experiening the unusual or strange could help those unrealistic dreams. I dunno, its kind of hard to turn your imagination "off"

Are you trying to sense the real world through your dream world? I've had an experience where I experienced a "plurality" (as I call it) where I felt my dream-body walking in a familiar location and my sleeping-body laying down. It was quite the experience and I wouldn't mind repeating it.

Which aspects of the real world are you trying to incorporate into your dreams? The physical layout, proportional emotions, people? And out of curiosity, what do you hope to accomplish? Is it just to help you achieve lucidity more. (That could make sense)

Anyway, I hope that helped a little.
