Thread: Possible Lucid Dream

Hey Dreamviews. I've been on sporadically but college has eaten up all the sleeping time I need for my lucid dreaming technique. However, I had a peculiar experience and I want to know if it was a lucid dream.

I was dreaming about a certain scenario ('tis a little Rated R for a public forum) when I started to feel a little...suspicious. After getting that feeling for I guess a minute or so (time is fuzzy) I had a realization that "oh hey I'm dreaming". After a few moments my dream scenery turned into black and then it morphed into white. At first I was excited that I thought I was lucid dreaming. However, things started to get weird. My eyes felt extremely heavy and I couldn't move for the life of me. I kept trying but it was a no go and it was literally the biggest struggle not to close them. I kept feeling weird and after a few mins I started to try and force myself to move because I always hate this sleep paralysis.

Eventually I was able to and in doing an RC, realized that the white I saw was the wall and I was fully awake at that point.

So my question to you guys is: Did I have a lucid dream? and if I did what type of lucid dream technique was it? Also...if I did manage to screw up a perfect time to lucid dream, what should I do instead to actually make the lucid dream last?

note: before college I was using the WBTB technique.

Lucid dreams are where you become aware that you are dreaming.

Yes, it is a lucid dream (Though it didn't last long) - a DILD, to be specific. DILD is where you realize you are dreaming during the dream.

As far as control goes, always stabilize after realizing you are dreaming. Don't expect the dream to disappear instantly once you realize you are dreaming - that'll put a bad mindset for you in the future. Start with realiing it's a dream, then slowly build up from there.

Ah, great to know I was actually able to have in the midst of my many sleep deprived nights. This was my first LD since starting college. Sleep patterns have been completely messed up due to work.

That's what I wanted to get advice on. How exactly do I go about stabilizing the dream? I constantly get to the point where I achieve lucidity but then I always end up losing it. The whole building the dream concept falls flat to me and my excitement usually ruins things.

You can stabilize by touching objects, rubbing your hands, or otherwise interacting in the dream world.
