Lightbulb How do you make your lucid dreams more vivid?

The few times I have had lucid dreams they were hazy and not very vivid, its almost like the vision that Frodo gets in Lord of the Rings when he puts the ring on.
Any tips on how to make Lucid dreams more realistic and lasting? I know spinning is a good technique to make lucid experiences last longer but thats all i got.

Using as many senses as possible is one method.
Simply asking or demanding can, assuming your intention and expectation are strong enough, also make things more vivid.

To make your Lucid experiences last longer try frequently reminding yourself that you are dreaming, actually say out loud things like - "This is a dream!" This should help you stay aware and in control for longer.
In terms of increasing the vividness of your dreams; you can also try vocal commands, but you have to believe they will work (just as everything in lucid dreams, you are in control.) Have a go at shouting - "Increase dream quality!" or "Make dream clearer!"
Also a couple of simple techniques to help towards both problems.. Take your time to look around at your surroundings in your dream landscape, and move around using your sense of touch on nearby objects, the floor, the air, smells - i know how tempting it is just to take off and fly around, but practice the basics first as it helps.
Alongside the spinning around technique you can try rubbing your hands together as well which will keep you focused.
I hope this helps you out and best of luck for your future lucid dreams

Wow great tips. I'll try to use them next time I'm lucid dreaming, especially using your senses more and using the shouting out/asking method. Thanks.

Take naps. I find my most lucid dreams are when I nap when i get home from work. I only sleep 2-3 hours but you go into REM sleep i believe quicker and therefore less likely to wakeup right away while dreaming. I once had a lucid dream so real and vivid during a nap that i wasnt waking up from made me think I was dead, a little scary but then invigorating as well.
