Too vivid dreams and cant sleep.

      Hello friends,
I found some similar questions, but did wanted to put my own question. Many times, no, like atleast 5 times a week I have dreams, where I don't know if I am awake or not. It makes me doubt the sanity...At times, I can manipulate the trajectory of dreams, many times actually. Is this normal? Or should I consult a doctor or something, at times it hampers my sleep. I only like the part where I manipulate my dream part and not the rest of it, as I am lacking sleep because of it. What should I do guys? kindly let me know. Thank you for your time. Cheers... :-)

By manipulating your dreams you're in fact having a lucid dream (if you knows its a dream consciously). You can learn how to further control your dreams here on the forum. The fact that your dreams are so vivid is a good thing, and if you are scared that you don't know what is real and what is a dream do some Reality Checks.
Use the finger check if you like (seeing if one hand can go through the other), or try out these other effective tests:
Breathe - Can you hold your nose and mouth shut and breathe? If you can you're dreaming.
Jump - When you jump, do you float back down?
Read - Can you read a sentence twice without it changing?
Look - Is your vision clearer or blurrier than normal?
Hand - Can you push hand through a solid surface?
Time - Can you read a clock face or digital watch?
Fly - Can you will yourself to fly or hover above the ground?
Palms - Do the palms of your hands look normal close-up?
Mirrors - Does your reflection look normal in the mirror?
Math - Can you add up two numbers for a correct answer?

In dreams the laws of physics dont apply most of the time which is a good reality check as well.
Try theses and it will tell you if youre dreaming or not. Hope this helps.

To pick a nit, control and manipulation, even through conscious control, is not considered "lucidity." I've had non-lucids where I've exercised conscious flight control techniques, for example. Lucidity is simply knowing your're dreaming when you're dreaming.
