I NEED HELP!! Please Please Help Me!!!

Hi I am somewhat new to dream views. I need to vent about this lucid dreaming thing. I don't have a teacher I have been trying to achieve one for over 6 months now and in that time I have only been able to achieve one! ONLY ONE! It only lasted about 5 seconds. I don't understand what I am doing wrong, I feel like I know the information I know everything i need to know in order to get one but when it comes down to it I just can't. Bear with me and let me explain please I really need this help. I was interested in Astral Projection before any of this. But After failed attempts in AP (Astral Projection) I gave up and went back to try again but wanted something better than AP. Now LD might be better but it might not all I know is that LD spoke to me more than AP. So i downloaded Ebooks I read the blogs and the stories got motivated I have about 2 and a half dream Journals dating back to October of 2013 and I just i don't know why it is so hard. I do Reality checks I write down my dreams I do the Dream Yoga I concentrate before I go to bed so that it is the last thing on my mind and still I have JACK SQUAT! Now it is February and sometimes i can barely remember my dreams if I even do like last night when i woke up this morning as soon as i opened my eyes i forgot my dream. I don't remember any of the ones i had. I don't know what to look for in my dream signs I don't know when to do my RC's back in December I gave up for about 3 weeks I was just so frustrated and i felt like maybe it's just something I can't do. Maybe I am the one person in the entire world who just can't do this. So far it hasn't gotten any better, but I am trying I am giving it 110% to do everything in my power to LD I write down dreams I think about having during the day to motivate myself but I don't know what to do. If there is anyone who stayed and read all of this I appreciate it and i would appreciate it some more if you could please help me just please tell me whatever advice you think i would need to help me with this problem. But there is one thing I won't do i will not take supplements. I want to be able to achieve this on my own and not have to go out and spend anymore money on this then I already have. THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!

I have the same exact problem! Like if I were to have a dream about lets say a knight walking his dog around the park and plays with his dog and picks up his dogs poop and then after he is done with all of that he would stab his dog in the head with his sword i would only remember the part about him stabbing his dog not the playing or picking up the poop

      Dream recall

I've had similar problems to you dreamguy, and limited success with LDs, but my dream recall is quite good, although it wasn't when I started. When you first wake up, try not to open your eyes. Another tip that helps this is to make sure your room is dark in the morning with blackout blinds. That way when you do first open your eyes you don't get blasted with light which it's said makes recall more difficult. I find that if I lie still immediately after waking and keep my eyes closed, in a dark room, it helps with recall. The other thing is I sort of let my mind go blank and not try too hard to remember, but be prepared to wait a while. It's amazing how many times I have woken with no recall, or only little snippets, to find that after waiting a few moments, maybe a minute or so, a long dream can come flooding back. Usually it's just one particular aspect of the dream that pops onto my head, and then I can work forward and backward filling in the rest. It took time for that to come though. At first it was just bits and pieces. It is important not to try too hard, but just let it come.
I do now generally manage to remember one or more dreams a night, so keep your spirits up! You can do it too!
One additional tip, try eye mask and ear plugs, which help to block out distractions when you wake.
